Fisher Back For Blues

Carlton has recalled Brad Fisher for Saturday’s game against Collingwood at the MCG.

It will be Fisher’s first senior game since undergoing LARS surgery after injuring his knee against Sydney in Round 1 of the 2010 NAB Cup at Blacktown Olympic Park.

Fisher has returned via the Blues’ VFL affiliate, the Northern Bullants, where he has played eight matches and kicked 23 goals.

He replaces David Ellard in the team. Ellard has been omitted and is joined by Marcus Davies and Mitch Robinson on the emergency list this week.

Walker Brings Up The Ton

Andrew Walker says he’ll seek out a picture framing place within the next few days. He’ll come armed with two dark Navy Blue guernseys - the one he wears into Saturday night’s match with West Coast at Subiaco - the other which he donned some 99 games and seven seasons past, in what was his first game for Carlton, again involving the Eagles, at Princes Park.

That was the Anzac Day round of Saturday, April 24, 2004, when “1AW” turned in one of the more spectacular first-up showings.

Blues Off The Pace: Ratten

A BITTERLY disappointed Carlton coach Brett Ratten has admitted his team doesn’t currently have the firepower to match it with the AFL’s top four sides.

The Blues suffered a 68-point loss to the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium on Sunday, which saw them fall to seventh on the ladder, just one win clear of ninth-placed North Melbourne.

“I think it just showed us where we’re at, really,” Ratten said.

Blues May Load Up On Ruckmen

CARLTON could play three ruckmen in Thursday night's showdown with the Brisbane Lions in a bid to snap a two-game losing streak.

While the much-talked about race to replace Matthew Kreuzer is seen as a two-way battle, the Blues could play both Shaun Hampson and Robbie Warnock at Etihad Stadium.

The unlikely scenario is possible because Setanta O'hAilpin is no certainty to return from a calf injury, and with Jarrad Waite again suspended, the Blues need to fill a hole in the attacking 50m. Athletic Hampson can play forward, leaving Warnock to join Sam Jacobs in the ruck. "We could go with the three talls," Carlton football manager Steven Icke said

Brock McLean: Not The Year I Wanted

BROCK McLean did not receive the news he was hoping for yesterday when told he would require knee surgery.

In a week where Carlton has already lost Matthew Kreuzer to a knee reconstruction and Jarrad Waite for two weeks because of suspension, McLean's arthroscope is a further blow.

He is expected to miss four weeks, but hopes to return by Round 17 with enough time up his sleeve to regain fitness before Carlton plays finals.
