ALFW B&F Thread

Ladies and gentlemen, the moderating team has posed an interesting question that only you, the potential voters, can answer. What was posed was the existence of an ALFW B&F award.

So, we need to answer a lot of questions and suggestions to the moderating team will be gratefully accepted.
[1] Do you want one?
[2] What should it be called?
[3] What should the winner get?
You get the idea.

It was determined that we should have a 3 - 2 - 1 award at this point, until we can determine what may be the best long term solution (assuming the people want to vote at all).
So, I'll start things off. However, please consider the necessities of this award. Even if there is an overwhelming voter response, we still have a lot of work to do before we can get something like the Jim Park.

Round 1: Carlton vs Collingwood:
[3]   Brianna Davey
[2]   Darcy Vescio
[1]   Danielle Hardiman

With apologies to Bianca Jakobsson, Nat Exon, Laura Attard and Lauren Arnell, all of whom deserve a vote.

[2] What should it be called?

Name it after the woman who has done more for Carlton than any other!

The Rita Silvagni Medal :D

(is that a bit sexist  ???)

The idea would be to name it after a prominent woman player...my suggestion would be to leave it nameless for this season and name it after our first B&F winner.

I'd prefer the same format as Jim Park ... but I don't tally the votes.

3 - Davey
2 - Jacobsson
1 - Vescio

Team: B+  :)

As for the name of the award, how about someone from our last women's team?

Was going to suggest the same thing....and tentatively call it the Vescio medal as she just picked up 3 votes. ;)

It may be that we go down that path next year but with a short season we thought it best get something going, keep it simple, judge the interest (see how many vote each round) and build on it as the competition develops.

A suggestion for the name, and even though she's a Bulldogs woman, she's the major reason that the women's comp even exists today, the Sue Alberti medal (at least for the first year until we have some Carlton women to name it after?? A lot mightn't know that Sue has been a major financial backer and vocal supporter of women's football for decades. She might have been the VP of the Western Bulldogs, but she's right behind all of the teams in the women's comp. She was at our game on Friday.

As for my votes:

3. Bri Davey
2. Darcy Vescio
1. Lauren Arnell

Vivian Kerr medal sounds good to me too.
I spent most of my money on Women and grog.
The rest I just wasted.

I cant vote as I only saw a half.

Sue Alberti can have their version of the Brownlow, rather than the CFC B+F.

Shes a doggies woman anyway.

It could be argued that the Jeannie Pratt medal would be good.

Without the Pratts there might not have been a Carlton Football Club for a womans team to represent.

I dont necessarily like that alternative either.

I like the Jim Park format myself, as I do spread my votes around somewhat. But with the questions around of the long term interest, I was a little dubious about tasking people to make such a commitment. 15 votes is a commitment and we don't have that many people who vote for the Jim Park every week.
Assuming the interest continues, we may well head to that format.
As for tallying up the votes, I assumed I was doing it.
