A good away win over a team that has been traveling well of late. Extremely dominant early, but failed to capitalise.. Came back strong at the end.

10: Gibbs: Just amazing, dominant and TOUGH display
1: Jones: Brilliant job on Lynch
1: Docherty: Was on track for another BOG early
1: Simmo: Half the best HB pairing in the league, easily
1: Ed Curnow: Brilliant job on Ablett
0.5: Kreuzer Felt it was another great game by the big fella
0.5: SOS. Love his intensity, some good play to set up goal scoring opportunities and then 2 for himself.

The only thing in this world worth more than a hill of beans is the Carlton Football Club.

I must have forgotten this. My bad. Thanks for fixing my mistake.

Team:   B+
Last week I gave the team an A. This week our performance was a little less cohesive and a lot less consistent. However, we beat a team that had already beaten us on their home patch. That says a lot.

Votes:
[3.5]   Bryce Gibbs
[2]   Sam Docherty
[2]   Matthew Kreuzer
[2]   Kade Simpson
[2]   Liam Jones
[1]   Marc Murphy
[1]   Ed Curnow
[0.5]   Daisy Thomas
[0.5]   Patrick Cripps
[0.5]   Blaine Boekhorst

Explanations:
[3.5]   Bryce Gibbs:   Maybe Gibbs’ best game: 43 possessions, 8 marks, 2 goals and 10 really good tackles. He set himself for a big game and he really delivered.
[2]   Sam Docherty:   A great game with 30+ possessions.
[2]   Matthew Kreuzer:   Probably didn’t win the ruck – he has had his troubles with Witts this year – but he was excellent around the ground and getting clearances. Some towering marks as well. He has continued to produce a rare vein of form.
[2]   Kade Simpson:   Like Docherty, he was unbelievable in the first half and when it really matter he stamped himself on the game again. Excellent.
[2]   Liam Jones:   Not as many marks or possessions this week, but his effect was excellent. He beat his man pointless.
[1]   Marc Murphy:   You didn’t notice Murphy when you compare him to the visibility of Gibbs, Docherty and Simpson, but effectiveness was extremely high. Very few mistakes and a lot of very good things.
[1]   Ed Curnow:   He really did a job on Ablett and was far more effective than his opponent.
[0.5]   Daisy Thomas:   Excellent early and really showed some smarts and some much better skills.
[0.5]   Patrick Cripps:   Not his best game, but a solid one. He had bodies all over him all game.
[0.5]   Blaine Boekhorst:   In the first half Boekhorst played probably his best game of senior football. He really impressed with his run, his marking and his football smarts. However, after half time he disappeared almost totally. He did his job: his man was a non-entity. However, his own lack of possessions after half time really hurt when we were under pressure.

Honourable Mentions:
Jack Silvagni:   Quiet early, but stepped when he had to and delivered.
Jed Lamb:   One of his better performances and one that will keep him in the team for a while.
Caleb Marchbank:   Not as outstanding as he has been, but still did a solid job.
Lachie Plowman:   Like Marchbank, Plowman was not as outstanding as he has been. However, he was there and did the job, especially when things were not going so well.
Jacob Weitering:   Much better than he has been, Weitering showed a lot more of the poise and smarts that made him stick out as a junior. Very solid.
Live Long and Prosper!

1. E. Curnow

SM to Lamb. The best game he has played in the navy blue.
If he can keep that form up he'll be with us in 2018.

The rest I just wasted.

Better kicking at goal and the game was dusted in the first half.....nonetheless, an extraordinary effort to regain the lead in the last quarter and to beat GC on their home patch. Now for the Tiges....
