Geez The Australian and Greg Denham have a clue don't they?

Had far off the money is this statement

I will fall off my seat if Joseph finds himself in line for the chop without a considerable drop in form. He would currently be so far from being the "next one to go" that it is not funny imo.

Since AJ is a nominated rookie, he is NO CHANCE AT ALL of being dropped. He is our best contender for Rising Star, although as a tagger he doesn't get the kudos some other guys get.

As for Walker, I think most of us have known for some time (thanks, to Michelle) that he will be back soon. As a great athlete, he'll need a couple of weeks to get his touch and match conditioning back, then he'll be ready for the campaign to the finals.

All this walker waiting time and tension is doing my head in. Man we need him fit and ready to hit the field. So much to like and respect about his abilities.

We shouldn't expect too much from him too soon .
He's played stuff all football in the last 2 years , and will need time to find his footy feet , and get some match fitness in the VFL .
2 , maybe 3 weeks .
That still leaves him 3 or 4 senior games before finals . ( if we get there ) .

Yep. If he gets through straight back in. He is extremely fit and will have no problems. Did the same last year.

"Andrew Walker Could Return As Early As Next Week" - HUN 16/7/09

Quote:
CARLTON coach Brett Ratten says Andrew Walker could be the "X-factor" the Blues need in their bid to secure a finals berth. The injury-plagued Walker will make his comeback in the VFL for Northern Bullants against North Ballarat on Sunday and Ratten predicted he could be just a week away from a senior return.

The 23-year-old had a third operation on his shoulder in April after reinjuring it during a VFL practice match.

"If he impresses straight up, he might be in the following week," Ratten said yesterday.

"His fitness is not a worry for us. He's probably nearly the fittest at the club, even fitter than Juddy.

"I would love to get him back in. I think his energy and his running ability and maybe that X-factor that we lost with Jarrad (Waite), we might get back with Andrew Walker."

I don't much care what position he plays so long as he's out there doing what he's good at!

I'd prefer him forward too, be that closer to goal or across half-forward as a lead-up, mobile, quick, high leaping target. Ideally, a roaming forward role with stints onball/wing, same for Waite when he's back next year. I think he's tackling, chasing, pace, hardness, etc, would be great for our forwardline....and Fev!

First things first, he needs time to get confidence in the shoulder. No need to rush him back in the side cause he's fit as one of Walks strengths is his hardness at the ball and player.

Until he's feeling good about the shoulder then he won't be to play to his full ability.

Lets just play him when he is fit...not rush him back because we are desperate......when he does return I'd play him on a wing and let him relax and get a few easy kicks and some confidence...
Other teams will be testing his shoulder out and we dont need him in the heat of the battle....not yet.

Yeah I too am a little worried they may be bringing him back too soon.

I wouldn't care if it took the rest of the season to get it right, just as long as they get it right and allow for a FULL recovery. He's such an important player that sadly we've never got much value from because of persistent injuries.

If they bring him back too early and he gets injured again ....

I'm with you Chester. I pretty sure we've heard the "better than before" assesment from Walks and the Medico's and its been proved wrong.

I'm no doc, but really, whats the hurry. ?

You're right, we've heard this before. At the same time, the procedure he's had is about as restrictive as it gets for a footballer.

This procedure takes a piece of bone from another part of the body and grafts onto his shoulder socket, theonly way this won't work is if the impact is that severe it breaks the graft or it breaks the bone itself.

DOA can confirm but i do remember Andrew's old man saying he wished Andrew had got this procedure done last year.

Lets just all hope that it works out right for him, because he brings us so much closer to number 17 its not funny.

Its all good news. Just hope it doesn't drag on way too much longer. Feels like we have been waiting forever.

There just appears an inordinate haste to get him back.

Completely different joint>injury>proceedure and recovery but it sounds a bit like the 1990's obsession with getting the knee recons back in 12 weeks.
