With Warnock, Walker and Bentick all on the LTI at this rate our whole rookie list will nearly be elevated. Glad they can all play! |

Made even worse considering that Jammo's also gone with a shoulder as well.
As far as Jammo going down is concerned, with Austin not playing, who's looking most likely to come in RR? Setanta?? |

Ratts said in the PC that they did the same thing with Walker..."because it was a Bullants game we took him off straight away."
Im sure you guys are right in saying that its a 3 months injury, but Ratts was a bit less pessimistic. Maybe he was just covering. |

From what I gathered, he popped it out, came off they popped it in, went back on then it wasn't feeling right so he came back off then went into the rooms.
I cried |

It just hurts to keep an animal offf the field. He is so dangerous and a killer when in form. I really wish him the best and hope he doesn't just become a potential champion. Has so much to offer if his body can hold up. Please get better far sooner than later. |

"Andrew will have surgery on Wednesday morning and it is likely that he will miss the majority of the 2009 season.
In better news, Michael Jamison is expected to be sidelined for 2 to 3 weeks after he injured his shoulder against Brisbane on Saturday nights."

Extremely bad news for Walks... Great news for Jenna.
I spose we're lucky that Jamison will be right in a few weeks, given his importance to the structure of our backline. |

YES! Great news...On Jamo
We could just about do without him for 3 weeks before the hard hitting games come in. |

Great news for Jamison!!
A real pity about Walker though. He must be really down on the dumps now after injuring his shoulder again. Reminds me of a book I once read actually. |

It's called "My Brother Jack", written by George Johnston.
It is about two brothers, David and Jack Meredith, growing up in 20th century Australia through the war years and the great depression, with contrasting personalities, David, an undeserving fraud who later reaches the heights of journalism, and Jack, the stereotypical 'true Aussie battler'. The part relevant to Andrew Walker's tragic injury was towards the end of the book, when World War II breaks out. Jack, being the masculine Australian male, is hell-bent on serving in the war, however, he injures himself during the training, where his injury goes from bad to worse, so much so that he is declared unfit to serve overseas and does not leave the country, despite the many fight-backs made by Jack and optimism he has. It destroys his spirit, and ultimately reflects the author's viewpoint of the 'true Aussie battler' concept; where despite any grim circumstances, the aussie battler will continue to persist and persevere. Although, the book demonstrates that this idea is not always correct- Jack Meredith battles hard through injury and does all he can, however he does not succeed.
Andrew Walker must be shattered no doubt, he was so close yet again, just like the character in the novel. Hopefully Walker has better fortunes and gets himself right.
Although we have already given Walker a hell of a lot of patience, I am willing to give him more. The more patience we give him, the better the chances are that he is able to take the time he needs to make another recovery. |

It is good news for Jamo however what concerns me is how innocuous the collision was that caused the injury, hopefully not a sign of long term weakness. As for Walker what can I say, terrible news and hopefully he can rise above this run of injuries and become a regular part of the team. |

You would think Walker has broken half a dozen mirrors or something. He would add so much value to our already competitive squad. I guess Jamo back in a few weeks is a relief. Dare say DOA would be hearing the same old words from Andrews mouth. *$#@, *%$@#%*.
Could thow in a few myself. Wish him all the best DOA. We will wait patiently again. |

Sounds great. I'll look for it.
Totally with you regarding Walker.
He is too young and too good to throw on the scrap heap.
I, like most others are willing to give him all the time he needs, either until he comes good or he decides he can no longer do this anymore. |

Badluck for Walks. I hope he gets back at the end of the season and plays a few good games.
Great to hear no surgery needed on Jamo, his shoulders do worry me though! |

Here's a post from DOA dating back to 14/5/08:

DOA was the injury related to the previous one? or just freak luck?
Cause if it was related, then I really hope the club get it right this time.
I don't want him to go down again with the same problem. Better to wrap him up in cotton wool for the year if there's any risk, in my view.
I was hoping and expecting your boy to really come-on this year, I just thought all the signs were there that he might step up into the midfield or onto a wing, or become one of the best running half backs in the AFL.
Thought he took good strides last year and was ready to blossom this year. |
In answer to the first question, the initial operation was botched.I'm not one for excuses,or apportioning blame, but that is the reality.
The most recent surgery was performed by the same doctor responsible for Shane Warnes shoulder oeration.
AW is a quick healer, some tend to forget he had the exact same groin operation as Chris Judd, Andrew came through without missing a game due to any related complications.
Is doing it tough as a spectator, and I too hope Andy and the club ensure he is 100% fit and healthy prior to playing. |
|
Looks like the last operation was performed by someone of undoubted skill. That isn't a good sign, as it isn't one of those cases where another operation might have the benefit of fixing up a botched job in previous surgery. Fingers crossed though that this time everything goes well. |

Don't want to steal his thunder, but DOA answered a question over on TC earlier today about Andy's operation. I'm sure he will come on here and answer questions if you ask him nicely.
In short he said that the op was a success! |
