We have just come out of the “Week of Judd” and it’s time for us (members of CSC) to maintain the momentum and finally get on board the “Sponsor a player” train in 2008.
Mateinone has been in contact with the club in regards getting a special sponsorship with the club and having an interview with the sponsored player, but at the moment this is in the early stages and there is no guarantee that will proceed.
The Cost.
"Top 10" players all cost $2500 a year, whilst all other players cost $2000. It is very unlikley that a top 10 players current sponsor will not renew though so they are already off the list. Chris Judd is also off the list and so is the number 1 draft pick with these well and truly locked in already.
A comprehensive list of players will not available until next month.
Fundraising will be through my account (which I will provide) and the sponsorship will be confirmed in the Inside Carlton magazines and on the CFC website.
Anyone who wants to make a contribution can contact me by pm or by e-mail at shakinbacon77@hotmail.com. There is no limit to how much or how little is donated so everyone can join in.
I will confirm payments in this thread so please make sure you provide your information in the transaction description.
Some good news
A long story short after the temporary demise of TBV and the mass migration to CSC, we called on donations to get a better server to meet the demands to house our new guests. In the meantime the good crew of TC got its message board off the ground and the new server was no longer required.
The money raised has been sitting in an account until such a time that it would be required. Luckily for us Spanner has donated space on his server (as well as hundreds of man hours) and after much discussion we thought this money would be best served going to something we all love.
Carlton Football Club.
So we have a balance of $1911.88 to start with.
Other quirks
A jumper signed by the team will be raffled amongst those who contribute, 1 entry for every $1 donated or 1 entry for every donation over $10 are two ideas being tossed about..
Hopefully we will be able to organise with Spanner a "Player Sponsor"*** logo to go above posters avatars to identify those who've contributed.
There will also be other draws for the sponsorship rewards during the season.

Just wanted to add for those of you who have not been involved with the player sponsorship/partner, being a proud player partner myself i would have to say that its the best 3,700 that i have spent, some of the best nights of my life have come out of it. I would reccomend it to anybody that is passionate about the club, and who wants to be somewhat more involved.
Spoke with CFC again today. Unfortunately we cannot get a player on to do any interviews whatsoever. The communication department has indicated that no players from any club are allowed to perform any interviews with websites. This is because BigPond have exclusive rights to ALL web content. For this reason no AFL player can interview with any supporter website, pretty annoying really but outside the powers of CFC. In saying that, it just means there will be more prizes to distribute to members and a membership that I think we should donate to a local school.

Easy to get around this, interview our sponsored player one on one then do a Q & A session in a thread

Unfortunately it is a no go zone.

cmon people everyone was very keen when this was just an idea. Now it is a reality, we WILL be sponsoring a player, great if everyone can get on board, does not matter if it is only $5

PM Shakin and he'll give you details for depositing contributions.
Can't emphasise enough that while we would like as many people as possible to be involved only donate as much as you can comfortably afford.

Hey Mantis,
$15 is more than enough mate, every single penny helps and if someone feels that $5 is what they can afford to contribute then that is brilliant. Lodsie has pointed out and I want to reinforce that it is the act of making a contribution that counts, the amount donated is not relevant.

Come on kids. It would be a shame to get so close and not make it. Anything will help.
PM me if we are getting desparate, i will tip in again if necessary, i would not want to see us getting this far and missing out.
Obviously the best thing is if some other people can get involved, the more the merrier
