Blah-Blah Bar / Re: Missing Plane, really ?
Wierd, when I paste the link in browser it goes to article, but when I click on link from my ipad it goes to a map app and I presume to the area referred to in article. If any one experiences same problem on iphone or ipad just copy and paste link to article in your browser.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: RD 18 : Blues Stun Kangaroos (Final Siren Shock)
Wow just saw some pretty full on footage from the game on AFL 360.  Malthouse was giving it to Robbo and Robbo sort of said 'yeah mate whatever' and rolled his eyes! So anyway Mick kept baking him and Robbo just walked off on him, you could see Mick really ark up and start following him continuing the bake. Robbo had the 'fk I'm over this shight' look on his face.

I'm not posting this to rubbish either person here as I can imagine Robbo would be pretty frustrating but I thought it was quite interesting anyway.

In past interviews, Mick has indicated that Robbo is frustrating to coach, or to similar effect.

Yeah during a post match he made reference, or lack thereof , to Mitch (after being asked by a Journo's) which I interpreted as saying that he finds Mitch frustrating and thick. Although nothing that hasn't been implied countless times in blues forums, and  not any worse than other coaches comments about certain players.
Mick actually said very little about Robbo, which is why I got the impression I did.

Very sad indeed.  :'(

Apparently one of the passengers on the plane, posted a picture on Facebook of the plane before they took off saying "This is what the plane looks like, just in case it goes missing".

The plane didn't go missing though, just blown outta the sky.

Surely Malaysian Airlines would go under now. Who would want to fly with them?

I read a few months ago the company is worth 10% of what it was worth 10 years ago or something ridiculous like that.

Quite sad really. it was regarded as one of the best options to fly O/S. Assuming that the cause of MH370 was beyond the reasonable foreseeability of company execs and the cause was a rogue pilot without a lapse in procedural care, then both the incidents appear to be outside of the companies control. I was supposed to attend a international Law Course in Germany this month and was going to book with them, just as well I couldn't go. I don't think my wife would ever want to fly with them in future. I understand they weren't the only airline flying over that airspace but I hope the practice of flying over war zones will be reviewed from this point on, unless you have a world wide ban on missiles that can reach certain altitudes (not a chance) then saving fuel due to shortened route is simply not worth the risk.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Blues V North - Pre game thread
I'll play.

In an ideal world I hope we play a heap of kids who contribute well, and fight it right out to the finish    line, but it won't happen like that.  We won't win, and you guys know we won't, which is a shame because if we were serious we could roll this mob.

Although I decided to cut back on my AFL content this year I have had the misfortune through chance to see a bit of a club  I despise in the kangas.  Those of us who sat through the 24 goal loss back in the days will understand.

Expect rotten treatment from officialdom this week, its a given for every Friday night game we have against this mob.  It's normally worth about 4 goals.

There are two North Melbournes... a lazy, slow, skill deficient, one way running side that uses the ball worse than we do, and another version that rips you to pieces through the middle.

If the first side fronts up we will be more than competitive.  If the second fronts up we will lose by 20 goals.

Frankly I don't see a lot of difference between North and us... we both have patchy work rates and can be scintillating or awful within short periods.  They also have a lot of slow players but unlike us they seem to get away with them.

There are a number of players that constantly give us trouble and I don't understand why.

1.  Petrie is one.  In the past I have watched tall backs, including Henderson, take this bloke to the cleaners.  One was Henderson and he flogged him with his mobility... yet I have seen Petrie kick bags on Henderson...   I reckon Rowe can match this bloke in the air but when it hits the ground will be a concern.
2.  Boomer Harvey is still a critical component to that mob winning games. Wake up Mick.   He is fast, rat cunning, sly and suckers cheap frees. I think he leads the AFL in score assists?   He needs to be watched like a hawk by somebody who is prepared to sit on him and run with him all day.  He also gets frustrated with close attention and can get a bit err, distracted.  I would be tempted to sit maybe Robinson on him in a defensive role, yet tell him to run forward an attempt to hurt the other way at any opportunity.  It is critical to shut this bloke down.
3.  Lindsay Thomas.  I have no idea who we have to sit on this bloke but they need to play him close and smart and be aware of what this guy does.  If he gets of the chain it will get ugly.

I'll be watching you Mick and await with interest what strategies you will put in place against this mob.  I know we are light on for personnel but how's about something innovative for once?

Great post.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Watson-Positional switch paying off
The value of playing blokes such as Watson and Lucas is that it enables the regulars to have physical repair and recovery. I don't expect any of these guys to do a McLean and turn their career's around. There's no harm in giving them a final shot, game results mean squat, and if they do show something its a benefit.

The Sports Desk / Re: 2014 World Cup.
Ok the last game, the premiership of soccer. My tip is Germany but I'd like Argentina to win because we have several members of family who migrated there from Italy. Good luck to both sides and thanks for an entertaining month.
You of Italian decent DU?

Yes Literally, I'm off the boat (off the plane actually). Italian enough to also understand the deeper meaning of GTC, it was a big for thing to GTC and Chapel St in teens and early 20s.  :)

Bell can still become a very very good player, just needs to get rid of it fastrer..

Warnock must go, my Swannie supporting nate (with whom i was watching the game) asked if the guy wanted to play for Sydney his taps to their advantage were that good.

Seriously.

That second half was as lame an effort as i have seen since Pagan days....

wtf is going on with him, for the last 3 years, since he made his appearance having had a delayed start due to injury, I thought it was simply a case of fitness. Then I noticed he would have a better second half to the season and assumed again because of fitness that took first half of season to get conditioning. This year he apparently had a good preseason and he still appears unfit. I'd this a metabolism issue or what??

To all the Daisy knockers, after an 18 month foot injury it will take a year plus a preseason to get back full fitness back. No he is not earning his dollar, but few else out there are either.

It's not Daisy's fault that he is getting a game, because there were six or seven worse than him tonight.

Bell looks fat and not fit(No excuse for a bloke with a sore finger!), Walker makes bad decisions(COntinues to make bad decisions), Ellard had no impact(Can't compete against bigger bodies!), Tuohy had little impact(Confidence shot), Everitt was ordinary(Too timid and inconsistent), Warnock is just awful(I'm speechless about the weak effort of a 206cm 108kg player) and Yarran gave us nothing(Just disinterested!)!

A year or so ago I thought Bell getting caught with the ball was due to inexperience, I thought he'd wake up as he got more games under his belt. I'm still waiting for his slow reaction times to be a thing of the past,   :(
And people started comparing him to Kouta. I said at the time and I will say it again, he aint one of Kouta's ball bags.

I'd hope not, those ball bags are important to our father son prospects and I'm hoping the end result isn't another Tom Bell. No offense intended towards Bell, I'm just expecting a lot more from the  Kouta  blood line.

we are seriously missing a crumber in our forward half. Hope Garlett has payed his dues in 2nds and is ready for a return.

Fair enough DU, but do you really expect him to make much of a difference? What we need are some players who will bring in not only skills but also the leadership qualities and instincts to inspire others. Jeffy, nor Waite for that matter, have these qualities. In fact we need to look outside the club for them.

I don't know Cookie, we just looked so sloooooooooow all over the ground tonight
