Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 10 2024 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Sydney
Last post by Thryleon -We seem to get pinged for holding at stoppages more often than our opponents, despite being a lot less physical and blocking rather than grappling.we somehow manage to have frees paid against us directly in front of goals but hardly ever get one ourselves.
I know that we can’t blame the umpires for the result, and free kicks miraculously ended up at 19 apiece, but it’s where and when frees are and aren’t paid that makes a difference.
If the right decisions had been made in the first quarter, we would have had a six or seven goal lead at the first break. That’s the kind of margin that can affect team performance.
The bottom line is that the 23 blokes we had on the park weren’t good enough … but they could have been 🤔

Last post by DJC -What happens to Walsh and Cripps is horrendous, our taggers barely make contact by comparison, our blokes are disadvantaged because we aren't being coached to go outside the rules.

Last post by Blue Moon -I think we have developed a very good list but I have been concerned about our lack of pace which has been getting addressed over the past couple of drafts. It is still a work in progress. One reason I liked Fisher was that he did have some pace. What we lack are players with blistering pace. Guys who can genuinely break the lines and run down opponents from behind. It is something I think we should be looking at.
Clearly it is time for everyone to strip off and jump into Ed Curnow's dam.

Last post by LP -Agree, I think the holding and blocking at stoppages happens on both sides, it has to be very bad to be paid. What happens to Walsh and Cripps is horrendous, our taggers barely make contact by comparison, our blokes are disadvantaged because we aren't being coached to go outside the rules.

Last post by Gointocarlton -Swans would argue Heeney/Warner were being held most of the time as well and I think this is why umps dont bother calling these frees...Agree, I think the holding and blocking at stoppages happens on both sides, it has to be very bad to be paid. What I won't cop is the over the shoulder and head high contact of fwds, Harry and Charlie copped quite a few and didn't get one free. Not that it would have made a difference to the shellacking we copped, just saying.

Last post by ElwoodBlues1 -No effing way. Three years passenger. No more.Agree...Id probably reward Cowan after he gave us lift in the VFL when moved into the middle, problem with Williams is where do you play him and finding a soft opponent who wont hurt you too much if he gets off the leash.

Last post by ElwoodBlues1 -Be handy if we could get Motlop and Saad back this week.Think Voss said he expects Motlop and Saad back this week, normally I would want Motlop to have a game in the VFL but given the stakes are getting a bit higher Id play both of them first up from a spell.
In Saad Motlop Cowan Binns Wilson
Out Williams Durdin Fantasia Marchbank O Hollands
Chuck Binns on Ollie's wing, Wilson the sub
Obviously if Weiters doesnt get up, bring Young in for him.
Those ins could not possibly do any worse than what those I would drop dished up.
