Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Post Game Passion: AFL 2019 Rd 6: Carlton vs. Hawthorn
Walls is a mentor, not a game day assistant coach. And if you watch closely when Doc is talking with BB on the boundary, he's being ignored (no acknowledgment)... a small thing, but maybe indicative. Had the Dishlickers not made so many errors last week we could easily be zip 6.

When you lead by 30pts at half time, you should never be in the situation where the last 2 seconds of the game is so critical.

Gotta take your hat off to Clarkson. Slowed us down in the second then took over in the 3rd, with a side that's not nearly as good as ours on paper... but experienced coaching / man management showed us how it's done.

Another 'brave' loss. This one should hurt more than the GCSs game.

How we respond to this will be telling.

The next few games will be telling indeed my Friend.  North > Pies > Giants > Saints > Bombers...If we are 1-10, then the Jungle Drums will be loud. This place will be rocking.

Appears evident that there are issues with the coaching..that and the fact we need a mature ruck. Kreuzer God Bless him doesn’t get a run and will never me consistently available. We need cover for him now.

Some players really lowered their colours. I won’t mention them by name. Others have. Retirement and trade will sort those two out. Softness and lack of intellect and speed of thought are sadly not something you can resolve with Coaching. Kennedy and Williamson , come on down.

My biggest disappointment in that game was the Coaching. As Mantis said, as soon as we don’t take the game on, we lose. Why, when we are 30+ on front, do we decide to change things up to that god aweful style. It doesn’t work. Either he isn’t listening to his assistants or something else is going on.

Onwards to North Melbourne. Let’s see how the Coaches perform in game next week.

x2....We are non competitive......thats the bottom line, not sure how long you can keep going like this before change has to happen..
Tactically we are horrible...zone defense isnt working and while the multi premiership coach found it fit to tag Cripps with Howe we just allowed Mitchell to wander around on his own all day and gave
him three brownlow votes...this is after OMeara was pulled out and it left Worpel and ORourke as the Hawks main mids behind Mitchell. How does that make sense? they are down to one main mid and we let him run around on his own. Its not Auskick.....

Yes. I laugh at people sayin “..but that’s not down to the coach..”. If you have Netflix, hit it up Season 3 of Last Chance U. It just came out. The first two seasons were amazing television. If you don’t know what this show is, it follows a small US southern town’s grid iron team performing miracles with a Tough as Oak, foul mouthed coach who takes utter misfits into Win after Win after Win. These kids are talented, but due to crap upbringings have landed at this college in a “last chance” attempt to get picked up by the big league.

That’s what we need. Go back to being a cheap as defence like last year. Give them nothing and make them earn every bloody meter. That DOES come down to the coach. He had all pre season and the last 17 rounds to come up with something. We knew Doc and Gibbs were out for the year. Its called planning. No wonder the players look listless. It’s pitiful and I don’t appreciate my membership money being spent on this supposed elite sporting environment.

Go to the WAFL/SANFL/VFL with our second and third round picks and draft hard nosed journeymen who will be oozing Adrenaline to get onto the park for their “last chance”. They won’t stop running, tackling and chasing. That’ll inject some much needed oomph into this insipid Culture. It’s so bloody obvious that we need hard nosed 22-30 year old players and then show the rest of the comp what we stand for. At the moment we stand for walk overs. And that has been perpetuated, no ENDORSED from the President down to Judd and the Coach. No wonder the Players look listless. The Club is telling them subconsciously that next year is when we want to be judged. Don’t worry about his year. That screams losing Culture.

He can go at the end of the season. No more seasons like this $hit one. Right now he's even making Pagan look good.

Could this loss be a coach killer? Would not surprise me. I thought he needed more experienced coaches around him to support him. But I think that that masks the fact that the buck stops with him. And we have scored 8 points in a half of football.

Get a feeling a lot of our players have dropped the bundle re the season, playing it out, no desire & going through the motions with out emotions

Poor coaching. Bolton should be on notice. 1 year buddy or you’re out the door.

If you can’t get kids excited to play with vigour and pride then you’re not AFL standard. Lack of Skills is one thing. Lack of desire and intent are inexcusable. Takling is not hard. Jesus Christ. Get them to spent a week with the Melbourne Rebels and Storm to learn how it’s done. Seems like Bolton has crossed the line of wanting to be a mentor/friend and not a coach that you should have a healthy dose of fear and respect for. I have serious doubts about Bolton.

Different player IMO..Docherty defends as well as rebounds, Simpson is a pure rebounder these days which is fine but you have to hit up your targets more and setup play
better than he does by being a longer more penetrating kick.
An example is Laird of the Crows....doesnt defend much one on one but is a pure rebounder and his kicking is elite...

Luke Ryan kicked a goal because Simmo couldnt be bothered trying to spoil or defend and allowed the ball through to Ryan.......great getting 30 kicks but we need him to stop balls like that ending up an easy goal...not devaluing him as a footballer but he has his limitations these days and should retire IMO.

Agreed mate. Docherty is a massive hole in our defence. Massive.

It might be time for Barker to go I'm afraid, he's been through several coaches and we have not really seen much improvement during his tenure.

Barker? I think you’ll find that the buck does not stop with him. At this rate they can all get fired. This is a disgrace. The players are representing what the coaches instill and train them to do all week. And no one is impressed. There is going to be some big changes at the end of the year if we end up with less than 5 wins. I hope we don’t get pick one. Or if we do, then we trade it out for more picks in the top 10. We need Mids more than a Lukosius. Blind Freddy can see it’s our biggest weakness. Every week we are chasing tails. Gibbs is gone and Murphy is limping into retirement. Sorry, I’m just upset that the basic desire is simply not there by our players and the coaches, who have had two weeks to come up with a multitude of scenarios to counter any opposing strategies for this game, are looking like novices.

Far too young, what a horrible insidious disease that takes people that should be still looking forward to life.

RIP to a magnificent tennis player

Strangest thing, I read the name in the Guardian and got a 20 year flash back. Gosh that woman had so much gusto and life. Reminded me a bit of Becker how she played. Everyone loved her. Very very sad. RIP.
