Good to see that crapness is not limited to the men's team. It's a club wide affliction... Jesus I'm sick of seeing this club roll over at every opportunity...
Did Maddy Prespakis roll over when hit by Bri Davey?
The girls are hurting. The girls are still fighting. The girls will not roll over like the men do.
So no chance someone identified the virus and then tried to weaponise it and stuffed up?
I posted a link last year with an interview from a guy who literally wrote the book about how a virus could do the damage that has been caused and where it would most likely come from....and it was China.
This book was out like 10 years ago or something.
Sure, military could have done something, but reading the tea leaves, this was always going to occur naturally.
Erin Phillips kiboshed completely from the Top 30, she must have drove over Black's cat!
I didn't read the fine print......which may have been added today, but in any event....
Quote
The top 30 will be based on form shown in the 2020 season. As such, the unilateral decision has been made to have a three-2020-games requirement, seeing as there were six rounds of the season and one week of finals.
Erin Phillips played 2 games only.....and thus was not eligible.
Parkes might be an intercept defender but Weitering is already wasted as an elite intercept mark and someone who can kick the eyes out of it, yet our coaching staff leave Weitering mired at FB.
Thats like saying SOS was wasted at FB.
Anyone who can defeat the best opposition players on a weekly basis is never 'wasted' at FB.
Down to 2......and i think its pretty safe to say that these 2 players have 3 of the last 4 league MVPs between them. Erin Phillips with 2. and last years winner, our own Maddy Prespakis.
The game is set for 1915 (that's 7:15 in the evening). It will be nice to be playing the Old Enemy again at the hone of AFLW football.
Tayla Harris has been passed as fit to play. It will be very interesting to see what our line-up looks like.
As far as i can tell, everyone is fit to play.
Even Maddie Guerrin who came across with an ACL managed to get through the praccy match last week.
Some of the new draftees are leading the way in the running/endurance stuff so it could be a very solid side with plenty of competition.
A couple of position changes.... Nic Stevens will play forward again. Jess Hosking will go in search of her first goal in a move from the backline to the forwardline. Darcy Vescio is fitter than ever and will spend more time in the middle.
Both Gibbs and Jones performed well against the saints.
My guess.... FB: G. Pound C. Wilson HB: V. Laloifi K. Harrington K. Loynes C: D. Vescio G. Egan L. McEvoy HF: G. Gee N. Stevens B. Walker FF: J. Hosking T. Harris R: A. Downie M. Prespakis. E. O'Dea INT: B. Moody, N. Plane, A. McKay, S. Gibbs, C. Jones EMG: J. Edwards, L. Brazzale, M. Hill, M. Guerrin
The AFLW captains and leadership groups have been announced.
We have continued with co-captains - Katie Loynes and Kerryn Harrington. We have 3 more in our leadership group with Al Downie, Nic Stevens and Darcy Vescio.
But it seems our (former) AFLW girls are in demand.
* Former carlton captain Bri Davey has been named as joint captain with CSC's own Steph Chiocci over at Collingwood * And St. Kilda have gone for 4-captains. 2 of which are former Carlton players continuing on from captaincy duties last year - Rhi Watt and Kate Shierlaw. Also ex-blue Tilly Lucas Rodd is also apart of the leadership at the saints meaning 2 of 4 captain, and 3 of 6 leaders are ex-navy blues. * Over at Richmond, yet another ex-blue, Sarah Hosking, has been named vice captain behind Katie Brennan. * Geelong also have plenty of Carlton influence. New vice captain, Jordan Ivey, wore navy blue on 2 occasions previously. Maddy Keryk also joining the leadership group at the cats after a couple years at Carlton. * Down at Melbourne Maddy Gay joins the leadership group after a successful carlton career.
Captains - Bri Davey*, Rhi Watt*, Kate Shierlaw* Vice Captains - Sarah Hosking, Jordan Ivey Leadership group - Tilly Lucas-Rodd, Maddy Keryk, Maddy Gay
* Sharing captaincy
There are more ex-carlton players in leadership group than current carlton players in our leadership group!
Credit goes to the club who has fully embraced the AFLW and has worked towards building a great side, with great coaches and a great culture.
Most of the players mentioned above (besides Hosking and Davey) were deemed not good enough to be on our list, yet are good enough to be in other clubs leadership groups! Thats a big tick of approval for what we are doing.
FWIW, Maddy Prespakis was ranked 23 last year, pretty sure she will make the top 10 this year. Our new recruit Elise O'Dea was ranked 14th last year.....but did not make the cut this year. Talent pool has increased dramatically. No other Carlton players were on the list last year.
A sure sign the AFLW competition is getting stronger and stronger.
