I understand where you're coming from, but Yazz, Hendo and Menzel did nothing last year, Carrots was on his last legs, and Judd, well................................
Pre season form has little bearing on the season proper. If we must stick the boot in, at least wait until the H/A season.
I'm aware their performances were sub-par, but they were still part of our best team. I'm happy with the blokes we traded/drafted, but they are not going to overtake that group at this stage....as bad as they were.
Took my 16month old little fella to our heartland, just because he probably will never get to see Carlton vs Bombers at PP ever again.
Didn't get to see a whole lot of the match because of him, but am kinda half thankful for it. What i did see wasn't very impressive.
However, things to come out of today.
PP/OO/MC/VP/IP is a great venue to watch football from and has a terrific surface to play on.....but.... Don't exect to find a car park within 2km of the ground. Don't expect to be able to buy a beer unless you are waiting for 10mins....and even then, don't be surprised if they 'sell out' halwayf through the 2nd quarter. Don't expect to be able to buy any food unless you are waiting for 10mins...and even then, don't be surprised if they 'sell out' by halftime. Don't expect to be able to....
In short, as long as you don't need need to park, eat, drink or take a leak.....its great. Oh yeah, and no baby changing facilities either.
I would love to play games there again, but i think we are looking at a complete rebuild to do so. Which is a shame.
Onto the football side of things....we had our 2nds in today with a large chunk of our 3rds as well! Got a good look at our kids, and i reckon Jack should get a game before most of them. Just looks like he can play.
Bit of a shout out to the lady who gave me one of the special edition posters for the little fella, because we got there too late to get one. Much appreciated, whoever you are.
This assumes Bolton's game plan is thug based liked the Angry Ant's version!
Basically, a captain is the figurehead who plays nice for the camera. Role model for the kids. Usually someone marketable.
A general, is someone on game day who gets stuff done. Not always is a role model kind of way.
Hodge was always the general at Hawthorn. Even when Mitchell was captain, Hodge was the one that got things done, changed the game. Sometimes it was a big hit, sometimes it was a kiss. Could also be called an enforcer, but isn't limited to just the physical side of the game, but definitely has that 'aura' about them. So Hodge, Jono Brown, Greg Williams, Peter Dean, Dermott Brereton, Gary Ablett Snr, Barry Hall are good examples, even someone like Adrian Hickmott and Aaron Hamill qualify.
Every club has a captain, not every club has a general. Sometimes they can be the same thing, but Murphy is no general.
Interesting character. Very underutilized, loved him in Dogma. RIP.
Never have and never will watch any of the Harry Potter films, and despite loving him in Die Hard, Dogma is what i always think of when i think about Alan "Metatron" Rickman.
That's quite likely...which is why I put the qualification "If the players stick". If they don't it will be Bombergeddon ...but if they circle the wagons they may not be as wounded by this as we might think. They've been able to still attract players to the club during the scandal.
Goddard i want success? lol Chappy i just want a team that wants me?
They won't be getting priority picks. They'll have half at least half a dozen experienced senior player returning in 2017.
Even if they finish last, which I'm not as certain of as some will happen, this is just a hiccup for them if the players stick.(that's the unknown) It's a year in the wilderness...then back on track. During that time they'll have an opportunity to blood and fast-track a whole group of players. It's not the same as what happened to us.
Difference is Lods....every single young player with talent will be worked over by a number of clubs trying to promote their club as a caring club that puts their players first. Young players, and families of young players, have already said they are not happy with the bombers and the way the whole drugs issue has gone through the whole club. Given the chance, you will probably see a mass exodus of young talent.
Hell, you might even see senior blokes wanting out after they were forced to sit out the year thanks to the clubs incompetence/pushing the boundaries.
Doubt you'd see many stars nominating the bombers as their destination of choice anytime soon.
This will haunt Essendon for as long as the salary cap issues have haunted us.
Successfully got through the day without finding out the result. Just finished watching it. Shattered.
That's like Robbie Warnocks miss against Geelong....except worse...its basically a miss from the goalsquare!
Besides that, there were so many times the game could've been put to bed. Petersons fumble. Wilsons screwed up snap going for a long 1st down. Rhodes flags.
Ah well, Its already got the boys fired up for next year. Looks like Greenway is determined to go around again thanks to that loss.
To make matters worse....bloody packers romp it in against the redskins. Was always going to happen though. Skins suck.
Poor timing on Williams's part...if he'd waited 12 months he may have had a happy ending.
He actually finishes up saying that he and Kernahan are (we're) contracted until the end of 1996 (they lasted another year after that) ..."that means I have two more chances to play in a premiership team. I am determined to make the most of both."
He could always try and release a 'part 2', unlikely given he's lost most of his memories.
