The afl as a comp is nothing on what it was. Too few good quality games each round as there is simply too many teams for the limited talent pool - too many new rules that are umpired inconsistently- fixture times that only make sense to AFL. Marking contests are another area that from a spectators perspective are close to impossible to understand as the change what forwards can do and can't do 10 times a match.
On top of this all the Essendon drug circus, vlads total disregard for the anything or anyone other then his own agenda. Over paid players - meat market trading period where fav players are all fair game means there is very little the average supporter has these days that is better then it was say 20 years ago. I used to regularly go to blockbuster games in the early 90s watching ablett senior, Lockett, Carey was so entertaining that many opposition supporters would go along. Wouldn't even consider it these days as they are no real exciting players and no one on one contests that supporters looked forward to. Remember watch SOS v Lockett Carey. Rhys vs dermie, anyone vs ablett senior. Those contests are finished.
AFL was a big part of my life even in our dark days. Sadly these days I watch our game when its on and pretty much switch off until the following weeks game.
Todays game is unfortunately is no longer run for the loyal supporters but for TV right, corporate sponsors and greedy afl executives.
They have ruined forever what was the best game in he world.
I didn't think his game was as good as many on here are claiming.
Maybe cause I focus on the amount of times he stops a second before possible contact and that sh1ts me so much that I don't notice what he does when he has the ball.
He stopped instead on running straight at the ball in the contest when hocking elbowed him. Happened just before the incident.
If we are serious about becoming a real team either he shows more courage or IMO he's trade bait.
His skills are not good enough to be that soft and get away with it.
Last time we met this team Waite kicked a lazy 7 goals out of the 10 we managed.
Yet all game that's right all game he plays defence while we struggle to put goals on the board.
Not enough being said about this.
The team is insipid no doubt but MM is not half the coach he was.
I love his passion and loved watching him go mad every now and then when coaching the pies but his weekly demeanor suggests something is very wrong.
Standing in the box, hitting and throwing things, incorporative press conferences all point to a man who has lost control as its obvious he has no way of getting the success most thought he would. Being such a proud man he is so bloody frustrated he can't hide it. I think he took this gig quietly thinking he inherited a Geelong that with with him giving the odd spray and maybe just his presence he could get us further then our previous coach. WRONG.
So how do we buy ourself out of this one? Buying at the time the best player in the comp failed. Sacking our nutcase FF failed didnt do much. Sacking a past legend and buying the most expensive coach in the afl will ultimately be another fail.
We are in a heap of sh1t. Sorry but being a big player in this years draft is not going to fix this mess. It time to start again. Its not top up time. A heap of pain ahead. Murphy being our captain pretty much sums up what we are about. If he doesn't stand down at years end the club must make the decision for him.
I have been feeling in for the last 18 months so this is no knee jerk one bad loss reaction but I am over the afl and worse I'm over my team.
They both stand for nothing and treat supporters like fools.
Not anymore. Might still watch our game if I have nothing else going on but there will be no membership, no going to games, no watching daily rubbish footy shows-all this is gone for good.
Mighty Mick is turning into Marshmallow Mick. Perhaps the Pies got it right - they knew his coaching days were over. I'm quite deflated after this. I thought Malthouse could take our list to the next level. It looks like the next level below.

The really sad part is even after their sanctions they will still be a better performed team then us over the next 3-5 years.
Cheats or not their list is clearly superior to ours and by a fair stretch IMO.
At least they were willing to do whatever it took to succeed. Our players couldn't give 2 sh1ts.

Yarran Murphy Gibbs are all in most of supporters minds in our top 10 yet they lack true heart.
Yarran is fast, exciting to watch when allowed room and at times looks skillful. YET when asked to work hard against the better teams he is lazy, not accountable and lacks any sort of heart that all great players have.
Overall was quite pleased with the win. I know we didn't play a top class team but you can only beat who is front of you and thought we did what we needed to do.
Was rapped to see that little maggot Milne try his usual side step tricks that always seem to work against us backfire this time around!
Touhy was wide awake to it......the same needs to apply this week against Harvey. I wonder if Touhy will get him as well?
Next week will be a better test. North are not a top class team but we have struggled against them and on their day can test any side. Need to be on from the start to get the win.
