Title: VFL 2023 Rd 2 Carlton vs GWS in Sydney
Post by: crashlander on March 28, 2023, 04:16:54 pm
This game is set for Saturday at 12:55, as a curtain raiser in Sydney.
I hoping to see a 4 quarter performance this week, instead of half a performance.

I don’t think Luke Power will go soft on the boys.  They should have a fair idea of what’s expected of them … and there’s plenty of competition for places in the team.

Rumour around that Cunners will play reserves this week.

I’d like to see that!

Good luck to him if he does play.  I think we’ve taken the high risk path and another injury could end his career in navy blue.

Im a big wrap for his talent - what a shame he has been so injury prone. Hope he gets a good run at it till end of year.

Speed, talent, no doubt. Great evasive skills, no question. Good goal sense, unquestionable. Durability? 0/10.

No team announced yet. :(  Hopefully they'll do it before the game starts.

Ground looks rubbish, good by olden day standards, but rubbish compared to The G or Docklands.

First two touches from Cunners... deft, silky.

Their backline is repelling our forward entries way too easily.

We're getting enough of it, just our forward line is a shambles... Phil Davis down back for them is putting on a clinic.

Lemmey is a big boy but having little impact on a scrappy day, needs to get up the ground more.

No point sitting inside F50 if the ball never gets there!

Kemp and Plowman look OK, otherwise 50/50, Cunningham very disappointing in conditions that should really suit him.

Mirkov is tall, that's about all you can say for him.

Like our 1s, the VFL squad has skills that are very average, below par for that level of footy.

1/2 Time

Blues: 1.6

Midgets: 7.8

Oh dear.

Only positives I could see were: Cincotta, Kemp, Binns & Cuningham (just)...

If we're looking for blokes in the 2nds to put pressure on any senior blokes... nuh.

Cunners started well, but soon faded. Cincotta and Kemp have done their job. Plowman has got plenty of it but given away dumb free kicks and his disposal... 50/50 - some for us, some for them!

Surprised Davis wasnt picked in the seniors, a few of our players need to do more 1%ers for their teammates like Cincotta does and also put their head over the ball a bit more.

The underbelly not coming along unfortunately difficult to see Dow, Carrol, Honey and Fogarty in Blues colours next year if this persists.

Hard to argue with you on that, Fine Red.

Our mids just didn't really fire a shot, and our forward line was just shambolic... and that's when they looked better.

only one who gets a pass is cunners.  Probably his first meaningful game in 3 years.

Cunners started well with his silky skills on display... then he faded but will be better for the run.

I'd give Cincotta, Kemp and Binns a pass. Then the pickings get real slim...

Very disappointing. No desire on show at all. if we wanted the ball enough, we could have got it.
Our midfield is down at the moment. Dow gets lots of it, but doesn't hurt you much. The rest ...
Honey - 5 possessions and no hurt factor. He is toast unless he really pulls the finger out damned soon.
Lemmey - 5 possessions. Disappointing, but he's on the end of things, not in the guts getting the ball. I want to see more desire, more chasing, more everything.
Jack Carroll - 19 possessions and 1 tackle. This is his 3rd year in the system. I want to see more. Especially in the negative side of things. 1 tackles for a mid simply isn't satisfactory.

Agree - Fogarty had a half decent game and was the only one that had a crack in the middle. Was ok with 6 tackles 9 clearances unfortunately he was starved with mates.

Given the number of listed players we had out there, this was an awful result.

I meant a pass for under performing.

If you haven't played a match in a couple of years and then your first one is a bit of a stinker thats understandable.
