AFLW 2022b - R8 vs Tigers- Friday night

An important match this week with a bit extra involved.

We'll be coming up against Hoskings (x2) and Grace Egan.

Also an important match to keep in touch of the top 8, as Tigers are currently in 8th.
We are fighting with Gold Coast for 9th.

Another friday night, and another dominating performance.

Kicked 4 goals in the opening term....and still got 3 minutes to go.

Tigers 0.0.0

I don't think they've got it inside 50 yet.

Well.....that was disappointing.

What happened after quarter time? We took our foot off the gas and couldn't find it again.

We're done now. Slaughtered us in general play the last 10 min.

We lose by 10pts. 44-34.

Egan still makes no attempt to dispose of the ball when tackled.  It’s funny how the umps seemed to ping her when she was wearing navy blue 🤔

I didn’t think that she had much influence on the game and was surprised when I checked her stats.  Our girls seemed to enjoy tackling her.

Sarah Hosking played well but Jess was quiet.  Of the three, Sarah is the only one who would improve our team.

It was a disappointing end to a game that started so well.  Richmond’s ball use was direct and efficient while we faffed around.  We did string together some great chains of possessions only for them to end with a poor disposal/decision in the forward line.  Having a genuine key forward target would have helped.

We had far too many handpasses that missed targets, took too long to reach the target and/or didn’t create an advantage.  Often it was lack of numbers in front of the ball that resulted in defensive handpasses and turnovers.
“Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don’t you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?”  Oddball

We need a decent target inside 50.
This is now the longest premiership drought in the history of the Carlton Football Club - more evidence of climate change?

We recruited Mia Austin for that, but she barely played before being injured.
Then we got Phoebe McWilliam, who was finding form when she was injured.
Serena Gibbs hasn't played for more than a year.
Imogen Milford hasn't looked like it yet.

We have addressed the issue, but our success rate is pretty low.
Live Long and Prosper!
