Cripps and Weitering both need a rest.
Weitering has spent a fair bit of time on the sidelines this season due to knocks in games.
We don't know for sure because we're not him, but at times last week his body language suggested he'd just about had enough of the constant battering.
He looks like a player not enjoying his football. His confidence appears to be down and where last season he'd approach the ball with a surety and back himself this year he appears to be tentative.
Give him a week or two off and he may show the benefits of that in the second half of the season.
On balance I'm not sure the forward experiment is giving us the benefit we lose by having him not playing down back. Are we that much better with him as our key forward target?

All those posters saying we have half a team in today and using that as an excuse are absolutely delusional.

I'm not at all critical of the kids. It's our senior players out there today that are simply bloody awful. Their skills are deplorable! Well below local footy standard which is a bloody joke. Missing target from 20 metres more often then they hit them.

I'm no coach but Why the heck do we waste a spot on our list with these players that will never amount to anything!!

I'm looking forward to the Academy Awards so we can get a break from politics ;D
Won't that be a fun night as the celebs outdo themselves to prove which of them is the biggest Trump critic. ::)

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Loyalty
Are we just looking at the examples of when they were loyal?

I think you could make a case for Simpson and Kreuzer as the fabric of the club but Murphy and Gibbs?

Gibbs admitted himself this year that he hasn't always been that driven and was happy just playing AFL.

The club must always come first second and third, exactly what happened at the Bulldogs and every other successful club in the history of the game.

Simpson is our Bob Murphy.
You couldn't imagine him in anything other than Navy Blue

I'm not downplaying his value in fact I'm saying he's a player that has value and one other clubs would look at.
We're not going to get anything putting a Jones up for trade and too often that's the type of player that's suggested.
We also need to look at the deals and make sure what we're offered is better than what we're giving away. If the price is right do the deal. If we have, as is suggested, some Key Position targets lined up then Casboult may be surplus to our needs. We wont need him to look after the young ones, but he may be a player another club could use.
Supporters often overvalue their own players but Casboult is the type of player that the opposition might look at and think "Great mark, Strong presence, we can fix that kicking." He has value, can we use that to our advantage. You don't shut the door on that without seeing what's offered, especially if he's asking for solid cash.

Let's not forget we were playing a team beaten by 140 points the week before with a percentage of 60 after 21 rounds.
Casboult is 26, has 70 games under his belt and averages under a goal and less than 10 possessions per game.
It would be different if he was a young kid on the way up but his numbers this season are near enough to or just under his career averages, what you see with Levi is what you get.

If that's the situation then the question becomes "is Casboult worth more to us as a part of our team, or is he worth more to us as a trade option. I see him as a player who actually has a bit of trade value, certainly more than many on the list who are sometimes suggested as good trade options.
To get something of value you have to give up something of value. When McKay, Curnow, Silvagni and maybe a player like young Ben Silvagni are our forward line will there be a place for a player who takes a good mark but is only a 50/50 proposition as a goalkicker?
A player like Casboult may have enough value for another team who are prepared to pay a good price. But we won't know that until negotiations start. If we get a good offer we should definitely consider it because we know what we've got with Casboult and there isn't much more to learn.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Our "AFL Final Four 22"
He is getting knocked about because he is treated like a senior player.
He has been told to expect different treatment to the other draftees because he is elite.
He loves the responsibility he has been given and he loves the the coach.

Which is to be expected. If you play at that level it's required.
He may love that responsibility and he may love the coach. That's largely irrelevant.
The onus is on  the club to ensure that he is looked after.
That doesn't mean put him in cotton wool but they need to manage his development and execute a proper regard in the terms of managing his injuries. I'm not saying they're not doing that, but my concern here is that while it's fair enough to treat him as a senior athlete (with a senior body) he has had a few knocks and niggly injuries very early in his career.
