Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Post Game Parlay: AFL 2019 Rd 15: Carlton vs Melbourne
I couldn't give Walsh votes, it was purely based on how many times he burnt team-mates with poor disposal. It's not when he misses targets under pressure, it's the open possessions that go the wrong way or handball behind a moving target, just basic stuff. I think he's going at about 40% DE over the last 3 or 4 weeks.

I realise he is just a kid so I won't bag him, but he's being a bit young Dangerfield like lately!

I put it down to a young midfielder with little mature support around him for most of the season.
If he were in a TOP 6 Clubs midfield his DE would be much better !!
In every other stat he is borderline Elite !! I had him in our Top 5.

I walked away in awe of GWS yesterday. The running power and structured ball movement was breath taking at times.
Its a real shame they don't play in front of a good crowd every week. I really hope they win it.

It was eerily quiet so you could hear the players yelling and umpires clearly most of the afternoon.

My 7 year old went home and re watched the Gold Coast replay to make him feel better.

I have no answers and wasnt aware of the 16 GWS players only on the ground but it didnt matter because our players just didnt man up.
Unfortunately our Captain is normally the number one culprit so at the very least a change in leadership is paramount.

We played like everyone just wants the season to end.

This is very much a head v heart proposition for mine. Given his age, injury history etc., given that we now have two younger guys in Lobbe and Phillips who are arguably better as "pure" ruckmen, plus TDK, plus the obligatory part timers (Casboult etc.), my head understands that there is some merit to this idea.

But deep down, I feel Krooz is such a heart and soul player, and as Navy Blue as it is possible to be. And still playing good footy. I really couldn't bear to see him in any other colours. That would really drive a massive dagger right between the right and left ventricle.

If I was running the joint, I'm just not sure I would have the coglioni to do it.

Krooz is not as Navy Blue as possible and if he didn't fail a fitness test at Collingwood he would be wearing Black and White.

So he stayed but I agree that he is does give 100% heart and soul and effort for the jumper everytime he runs out and you can't ask for much more than that.

I think the 'too slow' angle depends on who else is in the side.

In the first quarter we looked so slow....

Kreuzer , Phillips , Casboult , Rowe , Kennedy , Cripps , MacKay , Ed Curnow.....

Its over a third of our side with little to no leg speed. Throw in SOJ and today's game style of smaller
forwards with pressure and its all just too slow.

I think a fast mind and good decisions are important but when you can't chase or pressure due to
speed we have a problem. You can carry a couple but not as many as we currently do.

Simpson has been responsible for some horrible turnovers this season but he has a lot of mates and he isn't keeping anyone out of the side.

Unfortunately we remember all the bad kicks but he is running above 70% efficiency which isn't a retire immediately statistic.

It just hurts more because we expect so much better decision making and execution from him. As an experienced leader.

I'm not sure he was "sooking it up" with that tweet, it came across to me as more of a self depreciating comment....ie, he knew in himself that he hadn't performed to the standard of the other blokes.

Anyway, whatever he was thinking at the time, I really hope that he now has some confidence to start building on his game & refuse to give up his spot for anyone.

Good luck to him.

cheers

Great point Malo ...

My interpretation was definately not even close to sooking up he was absolutely taking the p...s out
of himself.  Something he does quite regularly.

@FB

I think we are definitely trying to win games (not very successfully so far) with the team that we send out, but the selection of that team obviously is more in line with other agendas.   ;)

It is supposed to be a Super Draft this year  . Wouldn't surprise me if we play the kids all season have a terrible year and go deep into the well one more time at the end of the season.

We wanted to rebuild the long way so take the pain that comes with it. We all wanted the club to go to the draft and invest in kids and not take the quick fix approach. Well that sort of rebuild is slow and painful.

All those saying we need mature bodies, drop the kids and bring in Rowe, Asos, Kerridge etc make me laugh.

Then next week we will hear why are we playing those sorts, their slow, their spuds and not part of our future and why not get games into the kids

Weitering, SPS, Charlie, Cunningham, Fisher, Dow, Kennedy etc I’m very confident will all make it but give them time guys FFS.

We are 2 years and 3 games into this. No where near enough time to be so dramatic about performances like tonight.

Great post it’s a 66 game rebuild. Be patient.
