Just bizarre this forum, I had been keel-hauled for bagging Casboult when he played spud games but last night he did OK yet doesn't get a vote to this moment.

It's like nuffas must be watching the forum ready to defend their hero, but if he doesn't get bagged they don't vote!

Last night we did far better in the stoppages and clearances when Casboult rucked than when Warnock was in there. Casboult has some size and presence when the ball hits the deck, versus Warnock who holds his deck! ;)

Not our worst last night but selected as a key forward and failed to hit the score board, 12 hit outs to Warnock's 57 suggests he didn't spend a lot of time in the ruck.
7 games this year for 3 goals.
The only thing in this world worth more than a hill of beans is the Carlton Football Club.

Just looking at Murphy's stats, 36 touches 7 tackles, I really don't know what more a captain needs to do to lift his team. Thing is I could have sworn people had him in their worst? How is that possible?

People have an agenda.

Just like those who pick Casboult in the best every week.

Or ignore his improvement.

It's an easy game to play and so many people play it.

I have been a strong critic of Casboult, but am well aware that he is improving.

The problem is, he is not improving in the one area required of him, kicking.

He has improved his tank.
He has improved his ruckwork.
He has improved his chasing/tackling.
He has improved his marking.
He has improved his consistency.

He is still the worst kick in the AFL, daylight is second.

He is a FF who can't kick goals. How much use is that?

I reckon even someone with your blinkers would see how far up the ground he's playing and the role he's playing.

His kicking has improved.

I don't know if he's a long term prospect but Dermie is a fan of his play and, as much as he sh1ts me, Dermie is a very good judge of forwards.

I'll give MM some credit here, he's given Casboult (ergo us) some currency.

If we got 27 for Hampson we may even get better for Casboult.

Casboult is easily a better player than Hampson.

His kicking has improved, marginally, and he is STILL the worst kick in the AFL.

Everyone remember how bad of a kick James Manson was? Well watch this video, he has a kick at goal at about 15secs in. Pay attention to the awkward, high ball drop. Looks a lot like Casboult.

Now that you've seen that, and had a laugh...
James Manson - 167 games, 126 goal, 87 behinds - 59% conversion rate
Levi Casboult - 24 games, 17 goals, 25 behinds - 40% conversion rate.

That doesn't include shots on goal that went out on the full either.  :o

I reckon Casboult has more technique than Manson though.

Fev was around 48% for his first 55 shots so even the best can take time.

Fev was 19 at the time, but stats can say whatever you want them to I guess.

Yeah, but he wasn't a FF early on. A lot more snaps and higher degree of difficulty shots.

You cannot say that he ever had a ball drop that looked anywhere near as bad as Casboult either.

...and thats the thing. While his balldrop continues to be dropped from the height he does, he will not be a good kick. Period.

Disagree, he was very much a lead and mark forward.

No technically he was sound but it goes to show, even the technically sound can struggle early on.

Fev used to miss them from 30 out pretty much straight in front fairly regularly early on. He was pretty good from about 50 right from the get go.
