Title: In Game Assignations: AFL Rd 6: Carlton vs. Western Bulldogs

The bounce of the ball will probably be a throw if the weather forecast is correct. Rain. A fair bit of rain.

Brilliant rundown tackle from harry on JJ.
Free kick....advantage and goal.

Put that down to Harry as well

Blues are on early, and are wearing their blue collars tonight....which is just what you need for wet weather footy.

Eds tackle (and goal) on Bont sends a great message.

Game 100 for Plowman.

Ran through a makeshift banner in the rooms.

Took the piss out of the cheersquad too with wonky lettering and his name as "Ploughman".

Wonder how the cheersquad will react to that.  :-X

Cripps down in the rooms - shoulder injury speculation according to the guys on ABC grandstand.

Cripps better just have a stinger in that shoulder. Can't afford him to have shoulder issues at all.

Gibbo goal sees us double dogs score.

Newnes knowing where the goals are, makes it 3 goal up 2mins to go.

Very solid 1st quarter.

Solid tackling which was rewarded.

Couple of average free kicks for holding the man (both ways) but i think dogs got a goal out of one.

Only Bailey Smith showing any balls for the doggies, but blues are gang tackling.

Eds goal from a free kick was a joint effort between him and Levi.
Dogs are looking over their shoulder and so they should be. We are right on them.

Potentially losing Cripps could hurt us, but we've been pretty good across the ball thus far.

Interesting stat.
We've kicked 32 points in 1 quarter.
Tigers won today kicking a total of 34 points just down the road at the gabba earlier today.

We've done well to convert that much so far.

Cripps apparently back in the huddle with heavy shoulder strapping.
Title: Re: In Game Assignations: AFL Rd 6: Carlton vs. Western Bulldogs
Post by: kruddler on July 12, 2020, 07:27:50 pm
Unless doggies get something going their way, this could be a thumping.

Dogs are overusing the ball, and letting it slip through their hands.

We are going long and direct and handling the conditions so much better.

Cripps back in the middle getting another clearance....poor kick though.

Given the R5 result last season, one has to wonder if the Doggies have become our bunny team ?

When was the last time we had one of those ?

Nice goal Martin.

Martin took a 3-grab screamer on the line....not paid.

Dogs clear.....MArtin run down tackle, spins JJ around 360 AND takes him to ground......play on! WTF?!

Dogs clear again and get a gimme goal all the way down the other end.

BS!

Goal result.

Where is razor ray from 100m away to make the override?!

High contact from Willo?

Relentless pressure and attack on the ball gets us the first of the 3rd.

Someone forgot to tell Martin that the ball is wet. Freakish ability to pick it up and move about, wet or not.
Title: Re: In Game Assignations: AFL Rd 6: Carlton vs. Western Bulldogs
Post by: kruddler on July 12, 2020, 08:15:18 pm
Bit of soccer going on out there.

Dogs too afraid to pick up the ball because we are right on their tail.

Boys are up and about after the break so far.

Dogs simply can't keep their feet and/or pick up the ball. The pressure they are under (perceived or otherwise) is off the charts.

Dogs finally start playing wet weather football (play for territory) as the game starts to dry up.

We've started going for more marks (and taking them).

We've been one step ahead of the dogs in the way we have been playing all night.

We take a mark inside 50 to casboult.

Ump takes it off us for a hold against Harry just outside the contest. Another call from the umps that effect the scoreboard not in our favour.

Dogs get a free....and an advantage....and an open forward line and somehow manage to overuse it and stuff up a gimme goal.

Something drastic needs to happen in the last 20 minutes of this game for us to lose it....even with Cripps playing with 1 arm.

Ump gives a dubious deliberate which results in an inside 50 to the dogs. We hold up, again.

The beauty of being a Carlton supporter in the current era, 18 points in front at 3/4 and as nervous as #@$@!.

Back in the 80s it'd be a case of knowing and expecting we'd go on smash the other side in the last qtr. now we just hope to hold on by a point...lol.

Bont is the main danger here. Hold him in the last and we win. Ed to play a hard tag on him in last.
Cripps has to rest forward. Love his heart but he is too sore to be effective in the middle.

I think Eddie just copped a low blow early on.....holding his junk.

Cripps is definitely playing injured, but he can still hold his own in the centre square and thats half the battle. Clear the ball from there and we're ok.

Don't mind if he clears it and then drifts forward, but regardless, its still working so why change?

Pittonet has been very good tonight.
They pumped up English in the pre-game, big unit coming of age and big game expected.....Pitts has flogged him with hitouts to advantage.

Pittonet made good position but dropped the mark.
Instead of giving him he envelopes the little Caleb Daniel in a move that would make the alien 'facehugger' proud.

We've got a good one in Pittonet.
