One bad quarter sunk us against the Suns. We did pretty well in the rest of it.
Team:   D+
As a result there were few 4 quarter performers, but lots of guys did enough to suggest that they have futures.

Votes:
[3.5]   Murphy
[2.5]   Docherty
[2]   Simpson
[1.5]   Silvagni
[1]   Casboult
[1]   Marchbank
[1]   Gibbs
[0.5]   Macreadie
[0.5]   Kreuzer
[0.5]   Fisher
[0.5]   Pickett
[0.5]   Williamson

Explanations:
[3.5]   Murphy:   But for a patch in the 3rd quarter when none of us could get the ball, Murphy was excellent. His disposals hurt the opposition, unlike Ablett. He got the ball out of the middle and showed his maturity and class. 7 tackles.
[2.5]   Docherty:   Quiet early, but he really came into the game and was excellent in the air. My only criticism is that both he and Simmo did not appear to give Matera respect and he hurt us. 13 marks!
[2]   Simpson:   Very solid, especially when we had our backs to the wall. But between our small defenders we did not respect Matera enough. 9 marks.
[1.5]   Silvagni:   His best game this year by some margin, but he does need to learn to be more selfish sometimes. His pass off to Pickett may be good team thinking, but he should have gone back and kicked the goal. All 3 of his shots were on the run and they didn’t look like missing. 10 marks.
[1]   Casboult:   Levi had a patchy game, but he took 11 strong contested marks and hoofed a couple of lovely goals. The GC defenders really struggled to contain him.
[1]   Marchbank:   Quiet early, but stood up well to the pressure.
[1]   Gibbs:   Solid and hardworking, Bryce gave us a big effort, especially as we lost control in the ruck.
[0.5]   Macreadie:   Not a 4 quarter effort, but he looked the part and was strong early.
[0.5]   Kreuzer:   Worked his backside off, but big guys don’t get any smaller. Witts got on top of him in the 3rd quarter, and GC got the ball out.
[0.5]   Fisher:   Not a 4 quarter effort yet, but he did enough to suggest he will be around for a while. His goal and his run down tackles were highlights.
[0.5]   Pickett:      Dropped out of the game after half time like he was shot, but his 1st half was dynamic. His pace and flair went unrewarded as he missed all of his shots on goal.
[0.5]   Williamson:   Really good early in the game with his attack on the ball.

Honourable Mentions:
Ed Curnow:   Ed worked hard and had a couple of jobs. However, I was one of them was squashing Ablett.
Charlie Curnow:   Not a 4 quarter effort, but he gave some really good signs with some strong marks and time in the middle. His kicking needs work.
Cripps:   Clearly not 100% fit, Cripps went out there and did his best. He will be better.
Petrevski – Seton:   Very good early, but dropped out of the game badly. His skill and evasion was nice to see.
Thomas:   Copped a lot of criticism for his pay packet in recent times, but he worked very well.

Good games too from Jack, Fisher, Kreuzer.
I spent most of my money on Women and grog.
The rest I just wasted.
