Jim Park Voting 2022 AFL Rd 16 Carlton vs St Kilda

Voting is as usual: you have 15 votes to award pretty much as you will, with the following provisos:
[1] 15 votes in total, no more, no less.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Sam Walsh or Patrick Cripps)
[3] Three players at least must get a mention.
[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-.

Hopefully we'll have guys to vote for.

Team = C - considered a much lower mark but, after the disappointment wore off a bit, I decided that we played well enough to win and would have done so apart from the woeful kicking at goal

This is now the longest premiership drought in the history of the Carlton Football Club - more evidence of climate change?

We did enough to win, we simply couldn’t convert our chances. It irritates me to say this, but it is true. Even though we were beaten in the middle, we still did enough to win. We simply didn’t want to badly enough.

Votes:
Unlike last week, where every vote was worth less than they were probably worth, this week it feels to be the opposite. Even our best players didn’t seem as effective as they normally are. Some of that was St Kilda pressure, but much was not/
[3]   Sam Walsh
[3]   Adam Saad
[2]   Patrick Cripps
[2]   George Hewett
[1]   Sam Docherty
[1]   Lewis Young
[0.5]   Jesse Motlop
[0.5]   Matthew Kennedy
[0.5]   Nick Newman
[0.5]   Lachie Plowman
[0.5]   Harry McKay
[0.5]   Brodie Kemp

Explanations:
[3]   Sam Walsh:   Dynamic, but few of his 6 clearances were in the middle. His kicking was also just that bit off. A good game, but not one of his best.
[3]   Adam Saad:   Considering that they had first use of the ball, Saad did a brilliant job of defending. 13 contested possessions and 13 intercepts says it all.
[2]   Patrick Cripps:   Not his best game, either, but he tried his guts out and was always in the action. 31 possessions and 8 clearances when we most the centre battles.
[2]   George Hewett:   His attacking work was not what we’ve become used to, even his kicking was a little off. However, he managed 10 tackles and 6 clearances.
[1]   Sam Docherty:   Not his best game, but he was solid and held his opponents out well.
[1]   Lewis Young:   A top job from the young man, he beat his opponents hands down on the night.
[0.5]   Jesse Motlop:   3 goals and 7 score involvements was a sign of a potent future. However, he let his man run away too easily and get possessions. Still, there was much to work with.
[0.5]   Matthew Kennedy:   5 tackles, 5 clearances and 2 goals suggests a pretty good night, but he was just that bit off his best.
[0.5]   Nick Newman:      very solid job in defence.
[0.5]   Lachie Plowman:   beat his opponents in most contests. Good effort.
[0.5]   Harry McKay:      Did enough to win us the game, but his kicking just wasn’t there.
[0.5]   Brodie Kemp:      probably more for the effort, but he kept King very quiet. Did a job that suggests he does have a future.

Honourable Mentions:
Zac Fisher:   Almost voteworthy with 21 possessions, but, like the others, it just wasn’t his best.
Jack Silvagni:   Normally 15 possessions would be a good workout for Jack, but this time he was off the boil. His kicking was awful, and he made mistakes he almost never makes. He tried, but it just didn’t work.
Charlie Curnow:   Like H, he did enough to win us the game, but he couldn’t get a kick through the big sticks for love or money.
