Butters is a ***t and somebody will sort him out. Surely the football world has taken note of his antics by now?

What really concerns me EB is that our kids are OK,  it's that middle tier of blokes who have just fizzled out.   Fisher, Williamson, LoB, SPS have just given us nothing for what 4-5+ of "development" ?   De Konig has stagnated,  then chuck in senior blokes who are underdone and giving F all (moneybags,  Chuck,  Casboult).  We're pushing sh1t up hill with what we put out on the park today.

Bit rough on TDK.   He is 20 games in trying to jump over blokes that are 150 plus games.    He doesn't have the physical strength to play that role yet and just gets worn down.

Should be the 2nd banana at this stage.

Even with 16 injuries it's funny that I don't even think that is our best team.

I think Kemp, McGovern and Fogarty should be in team. Murphy, Newnes and Plowman... not so much.

mml.   I really don't get the Plowman thing.   Would be in the first 10-12 picked.   Always in the pointy end of the B&F.   When he doesn't play the small/medium forwards have a picnic.    Yeah he is no superstar and hasn't lived up to being a pick 3, but he is panels ahead of anything else we have.   If he is fit.   He plays for mine.

Random thoughts

A lot of the skill of a player like O'Brien has to do with the quality of the opposition.
If we're on top, O'Brien has a bit more time and is able to produce those quality disposals.
Under pressure and they're not likely to be so accurate.

During the call, I think it was on the radio (listened to the 1st quarter in the car) BT called O'Brien a poor kick and asked Bartel about his development.  Bartel said he was technically a very good kick so it was more about composure.

I think it's two part.   What you said above Lods and 2nd part is that is O'Brien (Like Dow) needs to realize that he has more time and  space not to rush his disposal.   Panics too much and takes the wrong option.

Great game on Friday.   One hot day...   Let's hope it makes a summer.

He is the type of player that isn't suited to VFL football.

15-7 Inside 50's at quarter time.
29-23 at Half Time.

Our ball use is poor at the best of times, but we just wasted chances.   Our structure was horrid with no Harry.   Bombing the ball long with Cripps wanting to wrestle a 200cm Ben McKay the way he does Midfielders was silly.   175cm small forwards trying to take mark of the year seemed our best tactic.   It's looked like we had no plan for life without a key forward.

....if 800k is actually the figure.

....and if whatever figure it actually is, hasn't already been heavily incentivised.

Everytime I read figures like that I think that's max amount. Take out bonuses for AA, top 3 (5 or 10) in the b+f, finals bonuses etc etc etc and he may only get 500k.

Yeah it's hard to know for sure.    The figured mentioned might be up to to 800k, and then via Chinese whisperers in the media you get he is on 800k.

However, it's been reported up to 900k via the Herald Sun.

I feel 800k is not far from the mark.

The point here is perhaps not that Williams is paid too much, or isn't performing to the level required by his remuneration, but that perhaps someone like Judd wasn't paid anywhere near enough! :o

Nah I think we have overpaid for Williams.   Not that it's his fault.    He put himself in the market and the market (us) paid him well.   I think if anything is to be learnt from this it's that, sure you can get 800k but there has to be some incentives in that contract.

800k is an elite player.   Not what you play a player you are hoping is elite.

Hope we don't make the same mistake with someone like Cerra who is asking elite money and Fremantle will ask for elite player compensation.    He well may well become that player, but he isn't that player yet.

Dow had 6 clearances and 11 touches...... in the first quarter last night.

No way he was going to keep that pace up for the whole game, but that was his best effort.
Last week it was more consistent, but did not dominate like he did in q1 last night.

13 contested, 7 score involvements, 8 clearances, 4 inside 50's.   His inside work was very good.

He did fade in the 2nd half.   Needs to works on his endurance.   Missed pre-season with his knee won't have helped.
