Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 23 2022 Post Game Postulations Carlton vs Collingwood
So 2023 season now means we'll have more games vs mid third group of (pending finals results): Freo/Dogs, Lions/Tiggers, Aints, Power and GC. We just gotta keep improving, build that list, we should be entrenched into the top 8 firmly this time next year SURELY!

Tough way to end the season, but man what a game overall. After years of disappointment I'm able to extract myself from the want to yell at the screen and just enjoy the game for what it is. Also helps watching it with junior and playing with her toys during.

The Sports Desk / Re: God help me - the Test Cricket thread
The Poms will be a different side with Anderson and Broad in the 11 but you have to ask why they weren't in the lineup for the first Test  ::)

Anderson's old calves were playing up, not worth the risk as he was never going to play all 5 tests in anycase. But surely you'd pick one of them at least in each match... they'll both come in for ADL. Pink ball test with dusk conditions align nicely for swing bowlers like anderson.

Robert Heatley Stand / Tasmania - League expansion or relocate/JV for a club
Can't see the AFL creating a 19th side (and bye complications), the AFL would need to go to 20 (with maybe NT the other team) if a Tassie Team is to get up. Which then dilutes the talent pool across the league too.

Or relocate/joint venture a Melb team further south...

Is it something worth contemplating that the Blues might take up a handful of games in Tassie? I'd suspect not, no issues with us pulling a crowd, good membership already, etc.

Hawks and Norf better positioned in anycase?

Discuss  :D

(Searched and couldn't find a designated Tassie thread, hence this new one).

Blah-Blah Bar / Re: Eddie's Fight Against Racism in Australia
I've been working with the Culture Group at Uni SA (for the past 5+ years now), presenting lectures, creating content, etc for undergraduate engineers.

Last week continued our annual 'culturally appropriate behaviour in project management' where we highlight working with project stakeholders, including traditional custodians, providing examples of biases (which we all have), etc. Powerful stuff and we believe it's certainly adding to the conversation and making a small difference.

Each of us can contribute in the way we live our daily lives at home, work, play.

Hopefully not too much off-topic, thought it was relevant to this thread. Cheers!

The Sports Desk / Re: Tokyo 2021
*if* the games go ahead, it'll be interesting to see how the athletes go without a massive crowd and the electric atmosphere and noise spectators bring.

I'd anticipate performances to be at or below previous record olympic record levels given the scheduling delays and lack of crowd support to egg the athletes on that little bit more...
