Messages - Baggers

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: RD 21: Richmond v Carlton (Pre-game Prayers)
What can you tell us about him baggers?
Clearly a ball magnet, but who, if anyone does he remind you of  ?

Reminds me of Luke Blackwell but miles faster and with much better disposal skills

Good comparison RR, Young Fella. I'm a big fan of his disposal - often hits the best target by foot or hand and has a footy brain. Really pleasing to see that one of our blokes actually has a footy brain!

I just hope we haven't put the mozz on him with this tyre pumping. But I am sure everyone is realistic enough to know he won't come in and dominate... but just watch for potential.

Good to see McCarthy and Mitchell play. Decision time for them- re 2014.
Unfortunately McCarthy has been so injured. He is the right size to be backline useful.
We have put three years into these two, time to decide if the effort was waste!
Is Collins worth the perseverance?  I think he may be!

McCarthy is going to have to hold down CHF without his big buddy Watto around. His best ally is Davies... who was v. good last week except for disposal. I'd put up the white flags re McCarthy and Mitchell. Collins? He was good last week and has some terrific skills, but... seems to go missing during 'heat'.

Watched the Blue Print, old Sellers doesnt mince his words and summarised how I feel excatly:
- Not fit enough
- Dont work hard enough

Put up the following chart

Rnd 1 v Rich Led by 17 Lost by 5
Rnd 2 v Coll Led by 23 Lost by 17
Rnd 3 v Geel Led by 22 Lost by 16
Rnd 11 v Ess Led by 31 Lost by 5
Rnd 12 v Haw Led by 17 Lost by 15
Rnd 15 v Coll Led by 28 Lost by 41
Rnd 19 v Freo Led by 16 Lost by 36

A sad tale really, in control of our own destiny and faded in 7 games.

He is confidant if we can exploit their defence we can win, I dont share this belief, who knows.

Also watched the Blue Print and was firstly impressed that the club allowed such (constructive and deserved) criticism to be aired on their website - that is impressive and a departure from the usual Marketing/PR driven drivel.

When Sellars rolled out those stats I immediately thought of the Tiggers last years.

Tells me we are doing something right... but may just not have the personnel to deliver it and others may just need more time to adjust to the MM defensive style...

And whilst I'm on that - I am not a devotee to the strictly defensive mindset. I reckon our defensiveness has cost us games (maybe due to player confusion which will subside once they get used to it). Personally, I believe that worrying your opponent with effective offensive tactics is very important. Balance. The Fluffy Ducks can now do this... they can switch from dour defensiveness to committed offense. As do the Pussy Cats and Dawks... even the D1ckers are showing an attacking flair.

5 good, logical inclusions.

Graham sub.

Let Dinger off the leash.

I agree re Dinger but give Graham a full game FFS. Really looking forward to seeing this kid play we haven't had an exciting debutante for quite some time.

Let Yarran ponce around for a quarter and a half and if he doesn't deliver... bring on the Nick. For those of you who haven't yet seen this kid in action... reckon you'll like what you see.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: When was our last Rising Star nomination?
Again this week Adelaide produce a Rising Star nomination.......no.3 for the year.

Not saying its the be all and end all, but I think it's a fair indication that our kids ain't setting the world on fire!

Congratulations on initiating this thread.

An important observation and yet another indicator of our poor development, recruiting and dreadful list management. On its own, not a huge indicator, but when coupled with all the other sh1te...

Sensible ins.  Better balanced looking side this week, some grunt as well.  I am not confident of winning (never am with this mob) but with Bell, Casboult and Mitch at least they should have  a crack... and a few tigers may be looking for fast moving heavy objects in their peripheral vision.

You're right - better balance. Those three bring attitude and character.... and hurt. Feeling better about Saturday now.

I've really started to hope now that O'Keefe gets a gig this week from all of the positive reports on him starting to appear!

I am happy to be one of the positive reporters. The bloke can play... really play. But his body has let him down, badly.

To re-iterate... he is strong, has a footy brain, excellent disposal, great tackler, big/accurate left foot, has big voice on the field (unlike some of our introverted dudes), obviously liked by team mates and has a dash of measured mongrel. To repeat... but his body has let him down.

Sub or one more week in the Magoos.

If we put 22 blokes on the paddock this Saturday, who are all on the same page and who have all bought into the MM/coaching approach/instruction then I have no doubt we will give a good account of ourselves.

Against the Puppies it was obvious that some girls were just not on the same page and may have even been 'rebelling'. MM commented after the game that we had a strategy for the centre bounce and the players did NOT adhere to the plan - that should incur coaching wrath. And ours.

@ Prof E
Sewell is EXACTLY the type of player we need I agree. Would love to get him on board. Wonder if we could get him in six-pack size?

Would bring a success culture and expectation that is much needed (der... ya think!!!). Knows what it takes. Too many of our girls were raised on failure, regardless of their high draft pick status (Murph, Gibbs, Kreuz, Walks). We need to bring in a few older blokes who've been raised on success and the pain that is necessary to create this.

Tony Abbot today confesses he "Is not the suppository of wisdom"!  :))

Cringeworthy. I kinda hope he gets in. Be like having our very own George W. Please keep up this level of humour, TA... we need the laughs... you little suppository of ...something..., you. :)

And don't you laugh, Rudd... you look like you've been given 10 suppositories which haven't  worked... yet... stand back :o

Nothing to be gained by gifting games to players who aren't ready so the 13 players who could be considered for the coming week are:

Kane Lucas - fortunate to miss the debacle
Mitch Robinson - fortunate to miss the debacle
Matthew Kreuzer - fortunate to miss the debacle
Andrew McInnes - fortunate to miss the debacle

Nick Graham - has done enough to earn a chance
Levi Casboult - has done enough to earn another chance - seems to be over his kicking yips
Tom Bell - has done enough to earn another chance

Nick Duigan - not a world beater but will have a go
Jeremy Laidler - not a world beater but will have a go
Aaron Joseph - not a world beater but will have a go
Marcus Davies - not a world beater but will have a go

David Ellard - not sure if he has the necessary fitness levels - but would be in best 22
Rhys O’Keeffe - not sure if he has the necessary fitness levels

So who might be or deserves to be left out:
Judd, Garlett and Watson are injured
Waite, Murphy and Jamison played as though they were injured
Yarran should have been on his last chance, which he utterly failed

Who else?

No argument here. Love the way Davey Ellard comes in after a long time out with injury but you wouldn't know it - just picked up from where he left off.

I wonder if you were as bemused as I was to see Yarran in our best players against the Bulldogs?
