I'm very surprised how tall Cripps looks  when he took that last mark. Wondering if he could end up about 192 cm and 95kg by the time he's done and fill a key position role. That pack mark he took in the 2nd qtr was more of a key forward than a midfielder.

Just a thought.

Be the only way this club could pick up a KP player...........by accident!

Rain has come and the Blues in red cannot buy a goal. Coburg had a couple of Inside 50s but scored each time. 5 goals the difference.

Beautiful hands from Cripps a moment ago, he'll be a standout one day.
The only thing in this world worth more than a hill of beans is the Carlton Football Club.

Can't believe he wasn't brought in for his pace when Yazz pulled out.

The coach has made his choices.

Probably won't pick him now because he'll be shown to be wrong.

We lost by 9 points, which is a pretty good effort considering how poor we were in the first half. Really bad.

Blues 9.15.69, Coburg 12.6.78
Poor kicking for goal in the 2nd half didn't help, but we were particularly bad in the first half.
In our 2 quarters with the wind we were significantly outscored.
We didn't have a winning forward, but it wasn't easy to be a forward out there with the way we moved the ball forward.
With the rain the 3rd quarter, we struggled with our footskills, even though we played a relatively short game.

Watson: didn't have much of a chance as he broke his hand in the first half. He was being beaten by Featherstone.
Giles: really didn't have a good day. Struggled with the condition and couldn't show his best.
Cripps: gutsy effort with some very nice marks in the conditions. However, he needs work, especially on his pace.
Armfield: not at his best, but improving. He is going to put a fair bit of pressure on guys like Lucas in the next few weeks. Conditions didn't really suit his style of play, but he showed some leadership out there.
Graham: getting caught at this level does not bode well. He did have a decent game and he got a lot of the ball, but he doesn't hurt enough by foot.
Cachia: gutsy lad and hard worker, but he doesn't have the weapons to hurt the opposition enough. he put his body in well and was one of our better players.
Sheehan: still learning, but played a very disciplined game.
Byrne: struggled in the conditions. The ball just didn't get near him enough. However, a few things he did, especially before the rain came down, showed he has a future.
Holman: had a quiet day.
Temay: not a lot of the ball. At this rate he won't be with us next year.
Wood: rucked very well, but didn't do a lot around the ground. His ruck work was excellent.

DISPOSALS: Graham 31, Cachia 26, Cripps 22, Wilkinson 22, Thomas 21, Cattapan 21
Wilkinson played pretty well: best game I've seen from him.
Thomas could have been better, but he did work harder than he often does.
Cattapan looked good value. Not a lot of him, but he put his body in well and got a fair bot of the ball, as did Wilson.
Jack Anthony took 2 brilliant marks, but did nothing otherwise.

Well I reckon, watching that, Cripps will eventually end up a KP forward. Big boy, certainly looked tall, built like an ox for his age and takes a strong, contested mark.
