Title: Rd 2: Carlton vs Sydney: In Game Attitude
Post by: crashlander on April 01, 2016, 06:34:09 pm
No, I am not chronologically challenged: I know the game is on Sunday evening. I am just getting this ready. I won't be there and I can't see the game on TV (no Pay TV). Therefore, please shout for me!

I will list our probable 'final lune-up' when the 2nds play tomorrow.

Our backline set up once again looks to be our Achilles heel.
How do we keep ending up with Simpson or docherty trying to man up buddy or Sinclair in the last line of defence?

We have far too many softies out there. One is too many FFS.

Well at least we showed some fight at the end of the quarter.

Did I hear the umpire saying someone had gone in the book? Somehow I doubt it's buddy for slinging tuohy after the siren.

Seemed like Kreuzer and Jamison spent a lot of time on the bench that quarter.

We're being completely outclassed.
I'm not a White fan but he's at least putting in, Rowe and Jamison have been woeful.
Quite a few out there in Navy Blue simply not up to it.

At the ground and feeling deflated at the lack skill on display.  Efforts there - most of the time - but they seem scared everytime they have the ball.  Also Swans using their spare man in defence at the centre bounces to great effect.

Charlie C totally out of his depth.

Good intensity in 1Q but came unglued badly in the 2Q. Swans now dominating clearances and keeping us bottled up in our defensive zone. We are again making a lot of errors, especially under pressure.

I don't want to hear any more crap about "being beaten in the midfield" stops us from scoring or if we lock it in the forward 50 the goals will come.

We have one goal from our forwards from 20 inside 50's

Our forward line is non-existent and non-functional....until we fix that we're going nowhere. ::)

I reckon Rowe the spud has been alright with his spud mate White. Detroit spud city.

Yup, fair point. Poor Boekhorst has to playn as a leading forward FFS. Everitt has non existent forward pressure so the ball just comes out with ease.

Rowe often looks lost when he's not directly playing against his opponent.  White has been fine.  Matt Wright has been very good and about the only shining light.  Cripps has been shut out.  Gibbs doesn't have a second effort.  Murphy has made some howlers.  So has Kerridge.  Weitering the only decent back - Docherty and 2E trying their heart out.

At the ground and the first quarter was good to watch.  Second not so good ESP when we tarted going backwards again. Have a hell of a lot of young inexperienced players so mistakes are to be expected - already enjoying this game tenfold than all the games MM was in charge of by the end!

Thought Murph was really good in the first then disappeared, Gibbs royally stuffed something then didn't bother following up - not a good look.

Need guys to run forward - once they made a few mistakes they got nervous - they'll come good I have faith in BB.

Really not a fan of Buddy, quite the Diver...

Neither Curnow Jr. or Casboult have had much to work with to be fair.

Comment made else where on a thread re the expats seems to be kicking in now for sure. Clear lack of forward tactics & cattle , it will slow our development if we can't quickly find a way to change that

Murph is trying, but a few stuff ups. As for Bryce, I like the good Bryce, but he is the "pick and choose" king on our list.

Yep sure was a good dive after Weitering touched his lower back. what was the 50 for anyway?

Boekhorst needs to start nailing his shots if he's going to make the grade, his field kicking is fine but he seems to get stage fright in front of goal like Jordan Russell.

Poor execution has wrecked us just can't turn he ball over against the better teams if you want to avoid a blow out.

Surprised we are only 6 goals down. Blow out coming sadly.

Umpire paid the free downfield because it was after Franklin had disposed of the ball, and it was definitely a free kick.
The umpiring has been good, no complaints there.

Lods, we've had a number of chances that we have just failed to take.

We're watching on  a weekly basis a number of our ex-forwards kicking multiple goals....if we had just one player capable of that it would make a major difference.
It's not like the opportunities aren't there.

But the forwards are just not to the job....and we're relying on our midfielders to score.
Hopefully the remedy is slowly building itself in the lower grade...but until they're ready this will be a long season.

Cripps has been very quiet & we are not able to get that ball out in the open to create some run, funny that? Can't let him be a one man band

Sydney gang tackle him at every clearance. Murphy and Gibbs should be getting more of it.

Triple teamed all night. You'd think that Gibbs and Murphy would step up and win a little more at the coalface.

Yep I agree totally.

Gibbs over the head blind handball at the end of that quarter sums him up. When do you see swans mids doing that. Never.

They are disiplined and hard. Gibbs is neither.

Very disappointing game so far.

That's my point , just because Cripps has made such a splash we can't just think he will do it on his own, endeavour is there but class or lack of it is showing

Too right , sloppy supply , and a team that has had lack of confidence in there forwards of late

Still think we're best rucking Kreuzer most of the day with Caboult 2nd ruck. Both play by far their best footy doing that.
