Been good so far.

Doesn't look like there's much interest here tonight. Just a few of us logged on.

I want us to win just to rub it in to James Brayshaw. met him once. that was enough.

Look up the definition of a know it all smart anus in the dictionary, and his name is there.

Robbo turns at the last moment to protect himself and delivers an old style hip & shoulder and the commentators are now working out how long he will get suspended for.

harvey will kick the goal from a terrible passage of play by us. Three blokes went up to try and punch that ball, away. Ridiculous.

Nup, they worked out it was a good hip and shoulder. Which it was.

Good to see a few more of the regulars posting.

I'd stand Mitch next to boomer and the next sly one he gives out....

Rowe is doing an excellent job.

Daisy has put his brain in gear and start playing football.  Not switched on.

Pleased to see White go in for Robbo... White looks out of his depth but he's having a go.

I'm over getting beaten up by sides like this mob.  We owe this mob big time.

When you look at Waite tonight, you realise, at least I do, that he's been a wasted talent at our club.

Yes, I know he's carried injuries and been injured, but for every game that he's played like he's playing tonight, he's played one exactly the opposite.

White makes some critical, critical errors... very bad red time goal.

Gibbs second quarter was freakin' massive.

Menzel and Daisy need to do a lot more.  Menzel laying tackles but Daisy not involved and needs to stop being a passenger.

Awesome first half by Rowe...

Murphy played some very silky plays that quarter. Impressive and how a captain should conduct himself.

Rowe BOG so far for me. Gibbs very close too.

Ditto.  Although he's been creaming them in the twos, still needs to find the tempo of the big league again. We actually look like we're getting a contest.
Title: Re: Carlton vs North (in game)
Post by: Professer E on July 18, 2014, 09:08:45 pm
First to the ball wins the free... so lets be first in.   Tackling pressure excellent and FMD, some have been rewarded (I have to rewind the box to make sure I wasn't seeing things).

Rowe goes safety first and punches unless he is sure he can mark.  I have no dramas with that.  White needs to play percentages more - needed to hold that ball or smash it away.  Dropped it... instant late goal and momentum to norf.

Thomas gets a soft free every time he goes near it but FFS Touhy, tighten up on him close to goal.  Position yourself correctly!. Get goal side of him.

Need to shorten the leash on Boomer as well.  No ball hunting Ed.

Keep it up Sam.. respect.  That free was because norf were dropping too far behind.

So refreshing to see a ruckman doing all the basic things like creating space by putting his body in, filling holes, running to take marks aroudn the ground and give an option, the odd big grab up forward...

Sorry Prof, don't agree with you on Rowe and his safety first punching.

He does it at least 70% of the trime when he could have easily marked it.

He needs to be told to back himself.

He has 6 weeks to really give it everything. I'd love to win tonight to stuff Brayshaw, but I also want to see Rowe taking the game on and marking when he is in a position to do so, as he was on that occasion. If he drops the mark or stuffs up, so be it. They got a goal by him punching, so they may get a goal if he stuffs up the mark.

But if he DOES mark it, what a difference. And the thing is, he CAN take  a good grab.

I haven't posted for quite a few years since moving back to Melbourne and watching the baggers,,I was harping against Cappuanos ruck coaching for years even 5 years back….why do Kreuzer and Warnock always stare at the oppo ruck man before the bounce and not the ball>>>>>Cam Wood has shown so much more eyes on the ball at the bounce every time than everything we've seen in the past 5-6 years,,,what an improvement

Their accuracy is keeping them in it (per courtesy of a few @#&%#  umpiring decisions.)

Need to do even better this quarter.  They will be expecting a poor 3rd quarter from us.

Post by: laj on July 18, 2014, 09:18:50 pm
Wood is no star but he does the basics well, gives a contest, uses his body to make space, and gives us something around the ground. He's the no.1 for now until Kreuzer returns. He also can take the odd mark in front of goal then kick it well.

Warnock gives nothing around the ground, but being so tall he wins a huge percentage of taps, which can actually disadvantage often us as it makes ruck contests too predictable. Opposition rove to him. Makes him little value right now.

I'm not going to state the obvious that we are 6-8 quality players short of being a top side. B

But taking into account the material that we have to work with, three things have killed us all year.

The first, is we can't kick straight. The second, we go to sleep at least one quarter a game. and the third, we give up too many goals in junk time.

Leigh's getting desperate. Not a big punter has $50 each way. Used to bet at the races with my old man who was a bookie, but doesn't like to lose.

I think we are a couple more than that but the sentiment is right.

I'm trying to be nice ;) ;)
Then again....so are Norf! ;)

Now, without getting too carried away, twice we have been 16 points in front at this part of the last quarter and stuffed it.

Notice how we haven't heard a peep from Leigh mathews the last 5 minutes? As I said, hates to lose and it was obvious that hew had backed north.
