Kangabies by 18pts at half time.

Kangabies seem to have a system. We don't... bit haphazard and often being led to the ball.

Plusses... Pitto, Kemp, Binns, Cincotta, Cowan... and Lachie Young of the non-CFC boys.

Been watching the Irish lad, Monahan... oh dear, one touch to half time.

Great changes.
Not surprised both Young and Kemp got the flick, as I mentioned previously, they have been adequate, but not excellent.
I feel for Kempy, he's nearly there - but he's gotta stop trying to take the spekky in defense. It's like we're not entirely sure where to put him. His quality will shine soon enough.
The lack of authority in Young's game is of concern - stopper, spoiler, safe... we need more than that, but as a fill-in - great.
I would have been surprised if Fantasia was dropped, and if Motlop was fit I think he would have been, but his smarts and leadership contribute plenty - but he needs to do more.

I would say admirably rather than adequately.

When I write 'adequately' in reference to Young, it's actually a compliment, of sorts. To perform adequately in a very good defence, is doing your job. 'Impressively,' for moi, is another step. Weiters does his job impressively, as does Saad, McGovern and Newman (in our defence). Kemp and Boyd are also doing an adequate job, and we all want them to be better.

As with most of us, if Young was to recapture and even improve upon his form of 2022, I'd be rapt. And I hope he does. But we can only judge him on what he is producing right now and we can't help but compare now to his form of 2022... when he was impressive.

I don't get any knocks on TDK... coming along nicely.

Still concerned with Hollands... yes, fantastic at 'pressure acts', first rate, but still seems to fumble with his offensive game. Yep, just a kid, too light and is learning, and maybe what he is doing at present is exactly what the coaches want from him, but I'd like to see him develop being dangerous with aggott in hand.

And I'm not in the pumping up Young group. Yep, doing a job, and doing it adequately. Does look better than last year but is that just feint praise? (Threw that in for you, Ye Rat O' the River  ;)  ;D  - sorry folks, its an 'in joke' between us). What One of the things that Young lacks is authority, which Weiters has in spades (yeah, yeah I know comparisons are unfair on Young... but the bottom line is that Weiters brings a great deal to our defense, and with him there, our defense is at its best which is what we want - our best).

Once up a time it was us who were labelled 'brave' in defeat. How many times did we see headlines, after losing a close one, 'Brave Blues.'

Only very good sides play below their best, even well below, and still find a way to win. 'Above the shoulders'... we are coming along nicely.

2 zip after the first two games, if most of us are honest with ourselves, we probably figured on 1-1.

Individually, we had our fair share of blokes down, well down - Fantasia, Hollands, Cuningham. A large number of 'did their job' ...just. But then there were the blokes who really carried us and had exceptional moments - TDK, Saad, McKay, Kemp, Charles, Acres, Newman, Williams (that run down tackle late in the game to earn a free was just brilliant). Then, at the pinnacle, was Cripps and McGovern.

...and some pretty handy blokes to return in the coming weeks...

I always think Vossy is more of a coach/non -playing captain who is riding the bumps with the boys and responding in real time as to how the game is unfolding. Other coaching staff probably take note of and discuss the more strategic aspects with  him later.

Good pick-up Fluffy One. A real 'hands on' senior coach. Love it. And when you have the kind of respect -- factoring in his playing achievements -- from the players that Vossy obviously has, its a real play to your strengths coaching strategy.

I felt Fantasia was much more involved than Owies.
Agree. Fantasia's smarts and disposal in tight were influential. Owies was probably our only 'not quite up to it' player.
Hollands, whose tireless work; defensive work, was terrific... however, he's got to become less fumbly and surer with his hands.
Crippa, Cera & Hewett were outstanding. Really well supported by Chugga and J Carroll - who looked like he belonged. Announced himself.
Good to see Cunners going in hard with his body at times when required.
Entire back-line deserves plaudits. (Pleasantly surprised by Young. Kempy tough and hard).
TDK's work was great. Hard at it. 2nd/3rd efforts, terrific.
H... silenced the glib and shallow critics in the best way possible.
Fogarty... tougher than a cat's head. Valuable. When he tackles someone, they remain tackled.
47pt turnaround speaks for itself about belief, persistence, endeavour, pressure and connection... when we bring our 'brand.'

Kinda feels like a 'bonus' 4pts considering where we played, conditions and an elite opposition. Go Blues!

Fagan decidedly unimpressive in the presser - a lot of stats…. I know they don’t give much to the journos, but all he did was read out stats, no feel for the what happened or why
Struck me similarly. No acknowledgement of us and how we played.
His use of stats was a red herring as they were amortized over the entire game and boosted enormously by their dominant first qtr and a half. Not a very classy presentation from Fagan.
