Robert Heatley Stand / Round 20: Carlton vs Brisbane Post Game Pain
There may be a few moments to go, but we are being pounded again. This time, it is by the bottom team. Former bottom team. We are a disaster.

Do your worst, people. After all, the players have already done their worst.

Robert Heatley Stand / Jim Park Voting Round 20: Carlton vs Brisbane
I have no idea if I will be voting this week: I won't be seeing anything of the game. However, those lucky enough to see it, please put in your 2 cents worth.

Remember:
[1] At least 3 players need to get a mention.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player.
[3] Give a rating of team performance. It can be anywhere from A+ to F.
[4] Votes must add up to 15.

Robert Heatley Stand / Round 20: Carlton vs Brisbane In Game Anxiety
With the game not being on free to air TV tonight, I am not going to see a single minute of it, win, lose or draw. So, with the game about to start, I thought I'd start up the In Game Thread.
Those of you who are seeing the game, I hope you can enjoy it. I will sitting and stewing in my own juices.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2015 Jim Park Voting
Kreuzer has made some progress since his return.   :)
Considerable progress indeed.
However, it is still a real worry that Chris Judd is 7th presently. Remember, he played relatively little of the season.
It is an even bigger worry that Walker and Menzel both have less than 100 votes. That Jamo and Yarran have just cleared the 100 mark also describes how little they have been able to effect our play this season.

Cripps, Docherty and Bell have been the improvers this season. They have all made big strides and sit comfortably in our top 5. They will probably sit in the top 5 for the John Nicholls' Medal.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2015 Jim Park Voting
It may have been the smallest Carlton vs. Collingwood crowd for ages, but the game was actually pretty close for most of the day. We were a little unlucky to lose, but with what we could put on the field, we were pretty good.
Still, we are a LONG way from where we would like to be.

It appeared that the voting public thought we were somewhat better: 19 people voted, which was better than last year (where we actually won). The overall rating was 7.72, which is almost a C-, our best rating for quite a while.

The Votes: Round 19: Carlton vs. Collingwood
Murphy, Marc 380
Cripps, Patrick 311
Everitt, Andrejs 142
Kreuzer, Matthew 130
Simpson, Kade 126
Bell, Tom 24
Carrazzo, Andrew 24
Jamison, Michael 8
Buckley, Dylan 4
Henderson, Lachie 4
Curnow, Edward 2
Boekhorst, Blaine 2

Cripps and Murphy were the standouts, with excellent displays which attracted a lot of votes. Everitt had his best game for ages, which Simpson and Kreuzer were also good contributors. Still not a huge spread of contributors, but we did lose.

Murphy has put some space between him and the rest, while Cripps looks pretty comfortable in 2nd spot.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: VFL Round 18: Northern Blues (2nds) vs. Sandringham at Carlton
Interesting to see Menzel listed as a follower. Hopefully he plays the majority on ball.
He played on the ball effectively all last week and played his best game for ages. But his relative lack of physicality did tell: he still gets out-bodied too easily.
Early in the year he was mooted as spending more time on the ball and less up forward. Things didn't work out that way, but maybe we are seeing a glimpse of the future?

Interesting to see how Giles pulls up. We can all wish him well in his first game for more than a year.
I also note that Russell is named. I am a bit surprised, as he was playing OK before he was injured. But perhaps he is not 100% fit either.

Their team looks more like St. Kilda seniors compared to ours. With the game in Brisbane, it is questionable about how many of the emergencies play. That doesn't leave much at all.

Rice gets a 2nd go and we could probably do with about 3 of him. My God, have we fewer Carlton listed players available?

We don't appear to have many guys left with White and Casboult listed as injured, but this is ridiculous.
As for Watson not playing, he very well may as yet: he is the emergency with height.

Honestly, looking at these teams, Brisbane should win easily. By goals! We are playing the Northern Blues boys in all but name.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Round 19 Post Game thread - Blues V Pies
In many ways the awards just don't seem to go to us. WE just don't seem to get the kudos.
I've got over that. But I still think Cripps deserves this one. Cripps has been a senior player all season and has been tagged already. Hogan has been up and down and has played 2nds football. I don't think there is any question that Cripps has done better.
Will that make a difference? I doubt it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and most of the 'judges' don't want to behold us.
If Cripps wins, it will be extra special considering. If he doesn't, he will still be a champion.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2015 Jim Park Voting
Not a great result, not a great crowd and not a great voter turnout. However, we did play half a game, instead of no part of the game. So this was an improvement.

There were 12 voters this week who rated the performance a reasonable 7.29, close to a D+. A reasonable effort for a team that looks more like the Northern Blues each week.
