Last week's game was barely worth looking at. I hope we can turn that around this week.
Voting is as usual: you have 15 votes to award pretty much as you will, with the following provisos:
[1] 15 votes in total, no more, no less.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Sam Walsh)
[3] Three players at least must get a mention.
[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-.

As bad as they were the previous week, we really did make the Saints look like a joke....
4: Walsh (will be top 3 in the Brownlow)
3: Silvagni (best game for the Club?)
3: Kennedy (should be given a 2 year contract and played in the guts)
2: McKay (should have kicked 7 or 8)
1: Dow (maturing, good on the lad)
1: Jones (his best is bloody good)
1: honey (great game, adds a different dimension to our forward half, explosive)
1: LOB (decent game, might be enough if he maintains form)
Team: A+
I haven’t given an A+ for a long time. Our efforts have not deserved one. But this was one of the best we’ve had for a long time, even with St. Kilda kicking goals in the last quarter. That we can beat a team who were expected to be finalists so convincingly without a recognized ruckman says almost everything.
While it doesn’t wipe out last week’s poor performance, it did make a significant difference.
Votes:
[2] Jack Silvagni:
[2] Sam Walsh
[1.5] Patrick Cripps
[1.5] Matthew Kennedy
[1] Paddy Dow
[1] Harry McKay
[1] Liam Jones
[1] Josh Honey
[1] Lochie O’Brien
[0.5] Nick Newman
[0.5] Adam Saad
[0.5] Ed Curnow
[0.5] Jack Newnes
[0.5] Jacob Weitering
[0.5] Tom Williamson
Explanations:
I often five more votes than many, as I split the 15 votes up to reward players to deserve a mention. But giving votes this week was particularly difficult. Probably the only guys who didn’t deserve a mention were Murphy and de Koning. We really didn’t have any passengers, even if some guys didn’t have great statistical games. All of these votes deserve to be tripled for their real value.
[2] Jack Silvagni: Probably Jacks best game. He nullified a top ruckman, he had huge numbers of tackles, he had 6 clearances and he managed to get 21 possessions. Hard to beat that sort of effort.
[2] Sam Walsh: 26 possessions and 3 goals. Brilliant.
[1.5] Patrick Cripps: Not at his best, but very effective. A captain’s effort, instead of trying to do everything himself.
[1.5] Matthew Kennedy: Since his return to the team, Kennedy has barely put a foot wrong. Another solid effort in the midfield this week.
[1] Paddy Dow: Like Kennedy, this time Dow has made almost every step a winner. Very solid.
[1] Harry McKay: Should have kicked 8, but 5 was pretty good. He thrashed his man.
[1] Liam Jones: Another Jones game in defence, with only one terrible turnover. Jones totally nullified his opponents.
[1] Josh Honey: Very solid, very team orientated and much improved. Very promising.
[1] Lochie O’Brien: One of his best, if not his best game for us. No stuffing around for a change, LOB used his foot skills and continued to hit targets.
[0.5] Nick Newman: Solid in defence. Kept his opponents down well.
[0.5] Adam Saad: Another solid game from Saad inn defence.
[0.5] Ed Curnow: Did an excellent job. Got his man dragged.
[0.5] Jack Newnes: Showed his former teammates what they were missing.
[0.5] Jacob Weitering: After a poor start, he got right on top of King.
[0.5] Tom Williamson: Another player who has done well since his return. He even came down and got a couple of goals.
Honourable Mentions:
Jack Martin: Not one of his statistically prominent games, but one filled with tackles and chasing and the things he is not always recognized for.
Charlie Curnow: Not a great game, but he was always dangerous and his proved it when it had the opportunity.
Matthew Owies: Like Martin, Owies didn’t have a statistically significant game, but he was good keeping the ball in our forward area.
Team A - Our best 4 quarter game all year under duress.
