Notice Board (Visitors Enter Here) / Re: Missing Members - 2024
I miss PaulP and I hope he's OK, and then there's a swag of posters like Mav, Raydan, LanceRomance, Tommy'sBarber, bmaurizio, Amers, capcom, c4e, chalkybill, flyboy, Jack Burton, and many others who no longer post or only occasionally post.

I suspect that social media is attracting more people away from discussion groups across the board, and footy groups in general and this place in particular are feeling the squeeze.

Social media is faster with latest news, be it fair dinkum or fake, bit there's really not much scope for the discussions that make this place interesting, informative and, at times, infuriating.

The bright side is that we seem to hardly attract any bots now  ::)
It’s nice to be missed but nothing nefarious about lack of posts from me, can’t speak for the others but haven’t moved on to other sites or different media (too old to understand how to do that). I still read the posts from the older guys as they have the wisdom and have been through the same eras as me from 1958 to now. I now spend about two thirds of my time in WA helping out with grandkids and over here if you don’t follow the locals you are in a vacuum for other footy news. I’m sure WA surfer would agree that you guys are our lifeline to what’s happening and I thankyou for that.
I just haven’t posted much as we are going alright which is fantastic but grumpy old buggers like me need to whinge sometimes! 😀☹️

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL 2023 Preliminary Final Carlton vs Brisbane Post Game Prognostications
Better team won but they had to work at it. We ran out of steam mentally after they started coming close but happy with the year. We are two years behind Brisbane in development but we know what it takes now.
Still don’t know why we constantly bomb the ball up forward instead of having another string to our bow by running it closer looking for leads. A few got found out thought Cincotta was poor but been a good find and needed a bit more class than Fogarty maybe Owies but never know. Our tactic of Doc being an extra mid from the forward line failed as we kept kicking it to his man Coleman who used it well. 16 points flattered our last three quarters of play but a year of improvement and we are earning respect not ridicule anymore

I think this will be a grind of a game I think Boyd for Kemp is good as he is harder, quicker and he is tougher when tackling and makes them stick. He also enjoys the rough stuff from the likes of Zorko etc.
Kemp is a little Liam Jones like where his errors always seem to cost a goal but he will be a big part of our future campaigns.
I think Cunningham needs to stay involved more in the game he always has seemed to drift in and out maybe the selectors want more involvement when the heat is on in a final.
I think Kennedy will be the sub as he can play just about anywhere but still is a hard tackler that might come in handy late if it’s a brutal game.
Owies is a bit stiff like Cunningham he drifts in and out but even when not in the game his effort is always there and he always seems to jag a goal or two, but he is too selfless by wanting to give off that last handball which has almost cost us goals in the two finals. It was he or Fogarty and I think Fog will play defensive forward role.
I think we have picked a horses for courses team to grind out a win against a tough tackling team.
If we get through it will change again depending on opponent.
I think we have given ourselves a great chance

Great win but I think the standout for me in the form turnaround has been Luke Sayers telling the Mathieson’s to pi55 off after being an embarrassment to the club in the rooms after our lowest form. Since those poker machine blackmailers couldn’t get there way and immediately sack Voss we have gone from strength to strength  in solidarity. You could see in the rooms tonight we are a club again united with some belief. From the top down to the boot studded we are a team.

Samo has turned it on against us this year. Nearly didn't recognise his longer kicks and intensity in the contest. Up until he was injured, and the unnecessary Cincotta tackle in respective games that is. No doubt being closer to his country is beneficial.

I go to most Eagles games with my in law and I keep an eye on him and he’d be lucky to get a game some weeks. Maybe we broke him playing him at halfback but for the amount of talent he obviously has he is just lazy around the ground and doesn’t attack the contest hard enough unless he can make an easy tackle or possession.
He does seem to lift a bit playing us but he would playing reserves with us

I went to the Wet Toast v Tigers last week. Eagles were competitive except for a 10 min period where Richmond piled a few on.  Tigers seemed to think they would cruise but needed that period to break away and that was the difference at the end. If this was in Perth I’d be a little worried but as it’s not I think we should be ok.
Eagles are a banana peel waiting for someone to slip up on. They still have some good players

I think one of the key things I have seen in the last two weeks has been the small forwards. Owies I think has done his job harassing all year but with Fogarty Martin and Cunningham tackling pressure has been greatly improved from the timid efforts of Motlop and Honey. Keeping the ball in the 50 but also not giving a clear and easy kick to opposition defenders is helping us create more opportunities. Fogarty especially has surprised me with his tackling and taste for the contest.

This club has heartbroken us pretty badly this year.
Don't care what supporters do  it's their right to voice their discontent in any manner they wish.
They went to the game and their hearts broken into pieces... they will support the club no matter what but what is the club doing for them?
What they need to do is refund money to members that have attended games this year.
You do realise it’s a game a sport a recreation a pastime to say that the club owes you a refund is ridiculous.
Don’t buy a ticket if you don’t want to lose because every match is 50/50
