So in case you are unaware, there is no sub anymore, so 5 on the bench this year.
Choose the 5 who deserve a spot on the bench that compliment our starting 18.
Assume everyone is fit
Some people choose a 7th defender Some people choose a 7th forward Some people choose a backup ruck Some people choose all of the above. Some people simply choose the best players that are not in the starting 18.
Team so far is.... FB - Cowan - Weitering - Newman HB - Saad - O'Farrell - Haynes C - Walsh - Cripps - Smith HF - Ainsworth - McKay - Hayward FF - Williams - Kemp - Moir R - Pittonet - Hewett - Cerra
EDIT: Choose our 6th best midfielder from the available players. We already have our top 5
Hi all, trying something different from the standard best 22(3). Lets try picking our team in sections which will give us a good idea on who people think should play where as there are plenty of people who could be forward or back, midfield or otherwise.
So... Part 1 - Choose starting 6 midfielders including 1 ruck. Part 2 - 6 Backmen Part 3 - 6 forwards Part 4 - 5 bench (inc 2nd ruck if you deem necessary).
I will do part 2, 3, 4 after part 1 gives us clear (enough) favourites and eliminate those players from the options for subsequent parts.
All you need to worry about now, is who do you think is our best 6 starting midfielders? Lets pick in position. 2 wingers, 3 mids, 1 ruck.
Huge match this week at the traditional time slot of Saturday 20 September 2025 • 2:35 PM
AFLW Kangaroos team are on one of the best winning streaks of all time including VFL/AFL. In fact one more win and they match our dominant 1995 GF winning run. We are huge underdogs (as are everyone who comes up against them). "A league of their own"
Hawthorn AFLW star Tilly Lucas-Rodd has become the first current player in the league to undergo gender-affirming top surgery.
The 29-year-old, who came out as non-binary two years ago, revealed they underwent the procedure during the AFLW off-season, describing the experience not as a dramatic transformation, but more like finally aligning their outward appearance with the person they've always seen in the mirror.
Got the result we wanted. Now its a short week so we quickly move on to next week.
Couple forced changes likely with McKay (likely concussion) and Kemp (likely achilles) outs.
3 options to replace from what i can tell. Young - AFL conditioned, can play back/forward/ruck.....albeit none very well on recent form. Pittonet - AFL conditioned, is he fit? Just come back from injury but VFL has a bye this week so hasn't played a game. Bring him straight back and allow TDK to rest forward? Lemmey - NOT AFL conditioned. Perhaps the biggest upside. Do we give him a crack while we can or do we leave him in the 2's until he demands a spot.....or he is the last one standing.
OK, so its a bit early to be doing part 3, usually its around R6 or R7, but i think we are at a good point to really give this some thought given how the season has started. I expect to get a lot more variation in this one.
Carlton only had to give up a third-round pick to land Gold Coast captain Tara Bohanna as the Suns continued to focus on accruing more points for their academy players in next week’s draft.
The Blues landed a much-needed forward target along with the Suns’ pick 56, in exchange for just their no. 41 selection in the first AFLW trade completed since Saturday.
Bohanna, 29, joined Gold Coast as a mature-age recruit ahead of the first 2022 season, and was named captain after only 10 games.
The key forward booted 45 goals in 42 games, including a bag of four in the losing elimination final against Sydney in 2023.
