What's happened to McDaid?
Looked a pretty good team but now....
Silvagni, Lobbe, Wright and Casboult are out of that side.
Actually it still doesn't look too bad. De Koning and Schumacher will probably come in.
Should be worth a look.
Interesting to see how Sam Collins goes for Werribee at FB on the Bolt...Collins is good odds to be picked up again by a club wanting a key defender.
Played for Freo and was unlucky to be cut IMO.......I'd be checking him out as a cheap replacement for SOS/Rowe...
Cant believe Ben Maloney is still playing for Werribee, went to Collingwood and I thought he retired but now back at the Bees.....been a good VFL Footballer
Sam Collins - yes please.
Like the way he goes about it.
Dockers were mad to chop him.
Lamont said he hoped the Werribee environment would be able to assist Collins in getting back into the AFL system and described the 194cm, 97kg defender as “a round peg in a round hole” given the club’s recruiting requirements.
“Sam is exactly what we need,” said Lamont.
“He’s experienced, he shows leadership, he has the size to play on the big blokes, and he plays with aggression and courage, so he’s going to be a really good role model for our younger defenders.
“He wants another opportunity at AFL level, and we’d love that for him. In the meantime, he’s team orientated, so he’s a great fit for us, and we’re really excited to have him as part of our playing group in this new era.”

Injured. Not long until his return, though.

Box Hill Hawks 2013 - 2015, so Bolton would / should have some intell on him??

As should Cameron Bruce..seems strange no Hawks have followed Bolton to us or maybe as DJ suggested their was a gentlemans agreement
not to poach Hawks players..

More likely none have been what Silvagni was after...some of their older players would possibly have been useful for a year or two though.
Maybe this year.

Northern go better without our AFL players, that's a hell of a tell! :o
Northern Leading 56-21
I know this sounds like paranoia, but the moment the NBs pile on the goals the VFL live site stops the updates! ;)

Maybe it really shows the quality of our side or lack of it
3/4-time NBs lead 83-37
Won by 27pts. They kicked a few late when it was all over.
98-71 final score. Not sure why they kicked so many goals in the last, but anyway, a win.
What a result!
DISPOSALS: Wilson 35, Fisher 27, Schumacher 23, Penrith 20, O'Shea 19, Palmer 19, Hill 19.
Only 2 Blues named in the top possession getters.

Might explain the result
How's Penrith coming along Crash, is he draft able or another bust?

At this point I would inviting Penrith down to senior training with an aim of rookying him in 2019. He has some way to go, but his attack on the ball and his pace does appeal to me. He still needs some work on his disposal and decision making, but he has improved a hell of a lot since last year and is worth looking at.
For that matter, I would be looking at Fisher and Palmer as well. Both are not as consistent as I would like, but their efforts and their work ethic is very impressive.
Byrne got through OK, surely next week.
Schumaker was very good I'm told and surely we have to look at Fisher for 2019.
Anyway, good to have a win.
Penrith is similar to SPS and Fisher reminds me of Obrien.....just two more light bodies that will be fodder at senior level...too many boys..
We need bigger, stronger, nastier.....

We need players who can execute basic skills if you ask me.

Agree....but we cant add anymore Auskick kids to what we already have....
Players like Dow need mature support themselves not more little bodies they will have to look after....
Hawks brought a newbie called James Worpel into the team and he kicked our ArSe to the tune of 32 possies..now Worpel is 185cm and 85kg and clearly
has a headstart on a kid like OBrien or Polson, its not rocket science we need bigger bodies and no more Auskickers...
In other news, Le Bois lasted 5 minutes and has broken down again with what looked like a hamstring.
How unexpected. Thanks for your service, good bye.
Some don't rate him but Kerridge adds a fair bit to our team's output - and he always runs out games well....

Agree on the fitness side and prefer him to Mullet, Polson, Shaw.......
Kerridge is no doubt a competitor and one of our better lesser lights but we need better in order to progress, He would be a handy foot soldier in a much more talented/experienced team than us.
Dont agree with needing Kerridge back. He is exactly the player we need to replace if we want to improve not one to bring into a team like ours.
Yes he has the fitness, yes he is a bigger body but he is as unreliable a kick as anyone and this wont improve - he turns its over in the worst spots and hence why crows let him go. We cant keep going down the same track and expecting a different outcome.
Above everything else our number one area needing major improvement is getting blokes in who are smart footballers and with at least average - good ball when in possession. We have way too many sub standard users.
Need another clean out - Oshea, Kerridge, Graham, Mullet, Shaw, Casboult, Lamb, Garlett and Rowe are all sub standard and im sure I missed some.
And once the above are added to players that we are unlikely to cut such as Ed Curnow, Jones, Polson, Marchbank, Kennedy etc, it doesn't leave many we have that are AFL standard with ball in hand.

How to shatter my young fella's dream! He reckons he's ready for next year...
Jesse Palmer kicked 5 on the weekend.
Ive been very impressed by this guy.
Ex Port (Played 3 games, kicked 1 goal) and is a great size at 188 and 86 kg (wiki). Turns 22 shortly.
Looks like the type of bloke who was cut due to lack of opportunity rather than lack of ability.
I also like Sam Fisher too, but he is a bit small. Still whenever I have seen both these guys I have been impressed by their ability to make good decisions and dispose of the ball under fire.

I think with Kerridge we tend to talk at cross purposes. Yes he is a limited player and butchers the ball. He is not the future unless he can improve his disposal (history tells us not too many do at his stage of development), improve his disposal efficiency by taking the safe option all the time (which limits his impact, but might at least limit his clanger/turnover count) and/or play a role where he is giving value despite limited possessions - eg tagger and/or big body to get crunched to spare others and/or do some crunching himself (both of which he has the tank and strength for). But he is value in my view in the present simply because he can provide that bigger body and big tank. Played within his limitations - and they are considerable limitations - he can do a valuable role for this team IMHO.
Carazzo improved his disposal infinitely, in hoping Kerridge's can do the same.
We need bigger, stronger, nastier.....
I recall that as the membership slogan from ‘99 or was it nastier, hungrier, harder.
Bears the crap if they can smell what we are cooking.
Those were the days.....

Yes on his left side, but he still missed targets on his right foot far too often!

If he could do that he would be a handy player to have on the list.

Agree. He did improve a little on last year's disposal horror show. If he can improve again, he would be valuable as he can find the aggot and doesn't take short steps.

Yep. He can be quite a physical player and we don't have an over-abundance of those.

I loved 2011 "No passengers" now they are all passengers with no one driving the bus! ????

I actually came across an old membership hat 5 minutes ago (the kids were playing with it) and it had 'no passengers' on it. I laughed, then sighed. :-[
I used to have the "No Passengers" sticker on the rear window of my Troopie 11 seater. Served two purposes of course but became an embarrassment (the sticker not the Troopie). :(
If he could do that he would be a handy player to have on the list.
Short memories my fellows....
Kerridge's efforts in the back end of 2017 were better than both Gibbs and Murphy. Better numbers, better DE.
That he didn't play rd 1 this year - and BB kept playing skinny kids - was just another example of the misguided, bloody mindedness of the match committee....

I guess my memory goes back further to his fumbling turnover merchant period and that is what is ingrained in my mind. A few games where he showed improvement somehow have not yet compensated! ???
I think Kerridge has been unfairly criticised for poor disposal and it's worth comparing his stats with those of Simmo for example.
However, I don't think that he is the future, apart from providing depth and some cover for our kids.
Where is Kerridge anyway, has dropped off the radar.
Back this week.
Back this week.
Probably not - more likely the week after.
