Josh Hill is a confirmed signing.
I am glad that we are being proactive.

Given we didn't sign Penrith as a NGA player this year, would we still have priority to him next year, or is that relinquished now?

Clearly the success of Cam OShea and the club keeping its word to trial him have led to Palmer and Hill thinking they have a pathway back to senior footy.

I like this move. Hill can show class at times and is capable of putting on some good forward defensive pressure. Good chance to have a close look at him in the NBs and also help them out at the same time.

It's good to see the NBs being proactive and building on Cam O'Shea's success.

Another sign that the club is more united and cohesive than it has been for far too long.  I suspect that Josh Fraser has had more than a bit to do with both the NBs becoming a destination club and aligning more closely with Bolton's direction.

That should take a little pressure off our young blokes as well as providing someone to learn from.

That's 3 ex AFL listed players we have brought in this year, all be it 2 were rookies, but I like what the NB's are doing and we should have a very strong NB's side this year which will really help with the development of our young guys.
Exciting times!

Far from over the Hill: Ex-Eagle eyes third club

AFL 2017 Round 14 - West Coast v Melbourne
Josh Hill is hoping to join a third AFL club
From AFL.com

JOSH Hill believes he has several seasons of good AFL football left in him and is hoping a club in the market for a ready-made small forward will throw him a lifeline.

Hill, 28, was delisted by West Coast last week after kicking 151 goals in 107 games over the past six seasons, having kicked 75 goals in 66 games with the Western Bulldogs from 2007-11.

In his first five years at West Coast, Hill played at least 20 games each season bar 2014, when he fell out of favour and spent much of the year in the WAFL.

Hill quickly bounced back from that disappointing season, kicking a career-high 40 goals in 2015. As the Eagles made a run into the Grand Final, Hill won the Ross Glendinning Medal in round 20 for his match-winning four-goal haul against Fremantle, and kicked an equal team-high three goals against Hawthorn in West Coast's qualifying final win.

The 2008 NAB AFL Rising Star nominee missed just one match through illness in 2016 and played 10 of the Eagles' first 11 games this year before West Coast opted to blood young small forwards Malcolm Karpany and Luke Partington.

Hill told AFL.com.au he had not expected to fall from grace at the Eagles so quickly, but said he now just wanted an opportunity to prove he could still cut it at AFL level.

"Players like Partington and Karpany were playing very good footy in the WAFL and they got their opportunities, which they earned, but it made it hard for me and the other forwards to crack into the side," Hill said.

"That second half of the season was really tough for me, but I don't feel like footy's done for me.

"I feel like I've still got a few more good years left but things happen that are not really what you expect.

"But you take it on the chin and hope that there's an opportunity somewhere else. As I said, I believe I still have a lot to offer and an opportunity is all I need, really."

The West Australian is prepared to move anywhere to extend his AFL career and will happily accept a spot on a club's rookie list, confident he'll quickly prove his worth.

But if he doesn't get an opportunity at a third AFL club, Hill will look back on his 173-game career with pride.

"I think I've achieved a lot of things that most people wouldn't have been able to do in their footy careers and I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to play for 11 years and am very humbled to have had those opportunities at the Eagles and the Bulldogs," Hill said.

"I've loved being part of both sides and feel privileged to have met the players I have throughout my journey.

"If footy is done for me, then I won't look back with any regrets. I'm very happy with what I've been able to achieve and thankful to everyone who's been part of it."

Hill wants to remain in football once his AFL career is over and continue the mentoring work he has done with the Wirrpanda Foundation, Western Australia's under-16 and 17 representative teams and West Coast's young indigenous players.

"I would love to get involved mentoring the younger generation coming through because a lot of kids these days when they move to other states find it hard to adjust to leaving home," Hill said.

"You want more players to feel confident to move to any state and, as a player who's been through that, I think I could help kids adjust to those big moves."

Might be more to Josh Hill's arrival than meets the eye
A tremendous addition for club, development, and culture. Well done NB's.

Indeed!

I don't believe there has been an announcement of Andrew Walker's replacement.

I haven't heard anything yet. My guess is it may well be in the pipeline.  Sounds like a perfect match IMO. He's a seasoned professional with a steely resolve and has the runs on the board.  I think he's a WA boy from Broome if I recall. It's a long way to stray from home only to play in the vfl.  ????

We'll hear about 1AW's replacement soon no doubt.
I'm really impressed with the club's appointments. I'm confident they'll appoint a quality person for the role.

8 wouldn’t know this guy from a bar of soap, but if you wanted to get a 2nd (3rd) chance as a small forward then Princess park is the place to be...

At 28, I doubt Hill will get another AFL gig but you never know.

There were some nice highlights from Sam Fisher, but he looked to be the guy who gets on the end of things rather than someone who initiates play. Fair enough in its way, as it does give us some more small forward power. It does bode poorly for Kym LeBois, as we have been active in this area.
At the moment I can't see LeBois making it. But he could well be the guy who spends a couple of years in the SANFL or whatever and returns to be a player. But things do not look good for him at the moment.

I like the idea of getting a bit of experience in. Until 2017 the Baby Blues really didn't have a lot of experienced heads to follow, and the ones we did tended to be injured a lot. But in 2017 we saw Alex Browne, Luke Russell, Cam O'Shea and Ryan Wiggins recruited. Of those Browne failed to play a game: he had lost the desire after his drug ban. Luke Russell was a good player - pity he moved back to Tassie to Captain/Coach. Cam O'Shea had a great year and Ryan Wiggins played a single game, playing mainly in Tassie.
If we can get anything like the results we got from Russell and O'Shea, from Josh Hill, Jesse Palmer and Sam Fisher, then we will be well ahead. The probability is not that high, but we live in hope.

Fisher looks like a good receiver and user, Lebois needs opportunity as I said before needs to start up the ground so he can get a kick and get confidence..
Dont see Hill playing senior footy again, smart player and will kick goals at AFL level but work rate, tackling, forward pressure were not his strong points when he played at the Dogs and WC....
