I reckon that 6 possession quarter from Murph was better than some 10 possession quarters he's had. Cracked in there, won some ball and applied great pressure.

If we play the whole season with that level of intensity and pressure we will go way further than I would of imagined pre-season.

Robinson just has to kick those, they are the important ones that let the rest of the team down when they miss. It's deflating for everyone.

Robbos disposable tonight has been pathetic. Murph should of had a shot. He kicks 9 outta 10 from that distance.

We were looking okay but that second quarter showed our players still refuse to run both ways. Just staggered at the free space and free players Port has. The old Carlton would come out for 10 minutes then wilt. Let's see how we handle this.

Just on that Robbo miss, it was one of those goals that really count. Always expected Port to hit back that Q, but had he snagged it through it sort of takes some puff out of them after a better effort in that Q. Just gotta get those...

Post by: Juddkreuzer on March 16, 2014, 09:02:00 pm
Cripps showed more in the NAB challenge than anything Robbo has shown tonight. Hope MM subs him of at half time and brings on some class in Menzel.
Title: Re: Blues V Port (Inmatch Commentary)
Post by: ElwoodBlues1 on March 16, 2014, 09:02:22 pm
As I predicted we would have trouble with Westhoff who is too tall for our defenders.....it also proves that Everitt is no KP defender and I'd have him down forward.
Temptation is to move Henderson down back but I would delay that and hope that hit to the Hoffs bonce takes some effect and slow him down.....
Curnow playing a blinder for us and Davey Ellard has been great value...plaudits to for Tom Bell who has improved his decision making and looking more like a decent AFL footballer.

Robbo still divides opinion, plenty of grunt but also plenty of crape disposal....Gibbs on the other hand has been very silky and looked like a NO 1 pick.
Daisy been handy but cant kick straight....

I think we can hold Port off and win this game....Boak and Ebert have been tagged out of the game and Hartlett has come in for some treatment and looks a bit sore too me..

First quarter was tough, we pressured them and stopped their run. In the second, we decided that we'd done enough for the match and started coasting, the things that got us a good lead in the first completely disappeared.

Mitch Robinson will not be playing for Carlton by the end of the year.

You heard it hear first

I am watching the game with 3 mates. As soon as murph handballed to robbo we all screamed at the same time 'nooooooooo'.

That pretty much sums it up.

Unless he improves drastically If we are a genuine finals side there should not be a place for him.

Same goes for Watson-he has a massive kick and massive head.

That's about all he has.

There it was for all to see quite plainly, the reason why Jeffy Garlett will never reach that higher plateau.

Takes a mark inside 50m and turns his back on play further afield and there was three players completely on their own nearly in the goal square.

Couldn't agree more. Every goal we kick is a snap a mongrel a Hail Mary or a running goal from a mid.

Not one goal from a pass to a key forward on the lead.

Time to give up the boundary rubbish. How many times are we going to go through this where we struggle on the boundary then give it up and come good?

Watson head high hit at the end of quarter.

Fingers crossed he gets suspended for 12 weeks.

Everitt did everything right except hold the mark, had to have a second bite at it which gave the Port player a chance to spoil. Would of been kicking from the top of the square if he had of snaffled it the first time.

We can't let Port have a surge at any stage this last quarter. They punish the score board to quick when they get a run. I watched last years game at Edihad and I was creaming every time Port go a run on. Menzel must be ready to do something in the last quarter. Surely Menzel, Waite and Everitt need to trouble ports defence if Henderson isn't up forward. Haven't heard Hendo mentioned so I have no idea where he is ? Is he even playing ?

Time to give up the boundary rubbish.

Good luck with that, we had the coach who went fast through the midfield and we hung him. Now we have the guy who plays the safe stuff.

Watson just handballed directly to a Port player.
I saw Daisy F&ck up a few too but didn't hear you bag him. Give the kid a break I think it's fair that this year will be his make or break.

I reckon he's done ok tonight so far.

Warnock is not physical enough to be a great AFL ruckmen, and Kreuzer is no good at getting first hands on the ball.

In today's stats hides the lie that is the value of hitouts, Warnock is rated elite apparently!
