I have parent teacher interviews tonight, so I won't be seeing all of the game live.
Please give it an extra shout for me.

Levi "Momentum killer" Casboult puts the first out on the full.

DeGoey shows us what i proper forward should do.

Someone said something earlier that we have Collingwood covered in every position.

My immediate thought was probably not in the ruck, with Grundy > Pittonet.

However, if we can get Pittonet deep forward taking marks like that that statement might be correct.

Of course if he actually kicks the goal it'll be a lot easier for him to win the position.

Thats because they don't have any talls and Plowman takes their best small.

You point out when he's man gets it.

You don't give him credit when he takes the intercept marks though.

Fairs fair.

Still a bit of work to do with this team, but when was the last time you saw a Carlton side that had this much class?

The introduction of Saad and Williams this year, as well as Martin (and Betts) last year. Fisher taking it to the next level and Gibbons too. Weitering down back.

You could argue a few others too....but its refreshing.

This is against a team that every one says can’t score.

They took till have way thru the last quarter last week to get to 6 goals. They are 5 and not quarter time yet. Of course Buckley was going to change things this week but we are too dumb and doc even said before the game we didn’t worry too much about them only worked on us this week.
Plowman was great last week but has leaked goals tonight. Too slow to react.

Year in, year out, the "want" and the will to win are just never there consistently. Every year, after we show some promise against Richmond we go out and totally fk up round 2.

What game are you watching? The same culprits with the same soft efforts and the same turn over merchants doing what turn over merchants do... The club is officially a lost cause. A myriad of first round picks and this is what they dish up... F'n LOL!

We are in this position because hacks like Caboult and Jones are still starters weekly. This club is going nowhere fast.

We're easy to score against. Every week the same crap, just different date.

I don't even lose my crap anymore, it's almost comical.

There was a Collingwood piece on a show a couple of years ago and they asked a player how do they choose between degoey, Stephenson and Elliott? They said they find weak links and the footage showed all 3 smashing Plowman lol.

We have players too many players like casboult Jones plowman sps Murphy that are so so sh1tr when they have poor games.

There gap between there best and worst is way too big.

Add in Dow and setterfield and on games like this we are bottom 4 standard.

He is good with the ball.
He got the ball by reading the play.

He just doesn't have the first step to go with the smalls and is vulnerable on the lead.

Elliot is done now, so Plowman will be ok.

Pittonet has owned Grundy tonight.

We offered Grundy 7 mil for 7 years.
We got Pittonet instead and would be lucky to be on 1/3rd his wage....and certainly not for the same length.

Winning that one.

On top of that, Grundys extensive contract lead to salary cap problems and mass exodus.

Double winning.

Talk before the game was Collingwood's inability to kick goals. They have 11.

Only Carlton.

Promising plenty round 1, fk up round 2. Basically mark that in your calendar every year. Season always starts round 3 seemingly.

but has had what 5 goals  in a half kicked on him

The question you need to ask yourself is this. Who would've done a better job?

SPS, people were calling for him to be dropped.
Doc, people have stated how out of touch he has been and he plays too loose.
Willo, had a shocker last week and hasn't done much tonight.

Who do we have left that would do a better job.

Pies have the best small/medium forward brigade in the league. Arguably better than Tigers.....inc. Dusty!

So who would you trust to do a better job?

Too many not doing enough.

Setters, dow, curnow, Murphy, Levi all not good enough.

Sidebottom into the side adds another dimension which helps.

But as i just got through saying, its all about their small/medium forwards and the team they match up one (or don't match up on).

Same with the tigers last week.

Tall forwards have a hard time with Weiters and Jones.....smaller forwards have more luck.

I'd put Jones on DeGoey, we don't have a mid size defender to go with him.
Cripps needs to lift too, Sier and Pendlebury have him covered and Walsh has his handful with Adams. We are still in it but we have to do better in the middle.
Ed and Setterfield have to give us more...

Setters, dow, curnow, Murphy, Levi all not good enough.

I think Murphy is the odd one out there. He'd had it 10 times, only 4 blues have had more.

Cripps has only had it 9 times by comparison.

Murphy has had 6 score involvements, more than anyone else in Navy Blue.

Setterfield, Williamson, should be dropped if Teague is fair dinkum, They are useless and Newnes is not much better.

Plowman is on a hiding to nothing with the ball coming down so easy.

We are kidding ourselves if we think that Docherty is still AA, his disposal is dismal, how many times does he kick the ball out on the full.

Cripps is useless unless he can get first hands on the ball, let him leave and we'll do better.

Casboult is pure crap, someone give him a cork so we can get McDonald on.

I'm furious with the lack of intent, too many waiting for others to do things, making half ar$ed attempts. Got very comfortable being good against Richmond while the media tore Collingwood a new one. I think Teague needs to have a good look at his selections for next week.

We have not improved at all, the only good thing is the players we have bought in over the past two seasons, Williams Martin and Saad. The red pen needs to come out and rules some guys out for next week.

Deja Vu anyone?

For the second week in a row we are down by 8 points at 3/4 time on Thursday night at the MCG against a traditional rival.

Lets rewrite the ending from here.

I’m at the ground and sitting at the end we were kicking at that quarter.
Harry was pushing himself into the ground and at the end Moore couldn’t keep up with him. Moore is an absolute superstar but our man is showing heart I wasn’t sure he had.
If we are the team we all think we are we should get over them in this quarter.
If Cripps has a big quarter we are home.

Pies are playing keepings off.

1. Its hard to kick goals if you can't get your hands on the ball.
2. If you do get your hands on the ball and kick one against the tide and get be a big momentum changer.

Which way is it going to go?

4 goals to claw back from here.

Pretty sure that should've been 50. Player moved over the mark before playon was called. The fact he simply moved at all should've been 50.

Instead, we kick OOF and make it that much harder.

I just want to hear from all the Pagan coaching lovers. How has the state of the club been since he allowed all those maulings?

I stated all those years ago that we would turn into the new St Kilda because of all the drubbings. And here we are living the dream! Thanks Dark Lord...

The club has lost it's soul. It's now a shell of itself and basically embarassment to the history and it's fans...

Setterfield, Williamson, Casboult, Murphy - You all don't deserve a game next week.

Cripps and Docherty I should include you in this but because you are captains you're going to get a game. Worst luck both are liabilities.

Bring in Stocker, Kennedy, McDonald, at least they will play with heart.

Teague should be worried, Lyon sitting in the wings and we have very little defensive pressure.

We have not improved at all, Collingwood wanted the ball and we just sat back and let them.

Like what I saw from Fogarty, Harry, Williams, Saad, Gibbons, Martin and Fisher.

It's the same old story, too much left to too few.

Carlton supporters have been duped into thinking this is a good team on the rise, it's an unbalanced, injured wreck with good PR.

He was ordinary, but with the way the ball was coming in he had no hope, nor did many of our defenders, sh!+pressure from everyone forward of centre apart from Fogarty and Fisher.

That was ultimately why we lost.  We bomb it in, they kick to their forwards advantage.

Pittonett is a d grade ruck and Grundy showed him up as much. The Grundy to Adams show was predictable and Teague took 3 quarters to put Curnow on him. When the class of Pendlebury and Adams are getting first dibs on the ball we have no hope in defence as our mids don't apply any pressure.

Carlton supporters have been duped into thinking this is a good team on the rise, it's an unbalanced, injured wreck with good PR.

Comments like this will come back to haunt you.

All the pieces of the puzzle are there, we just need to find the right hole.....and get a bit of luck with our injuries up forward.
When you are missing...
1. C. Curnow
2. J. Silvagni
3. M. McGovern
4. E. Betts

Who are all injured or recovering from injuries, there is no pressure on the people in the 1's.
No way should Casboult have played this week, but because we've got nobody else to take his spot, it continues.

All that aside, we are still moving the chess pieces around the rest of the ground.
Finally playing Murphy forward.
Setterfield either doesn't have a position, or doesn't know what is. Is he a wing an inside mid, a back pocket? We don't know.
Newnes and Fogarty do their role, regardless. How many others can say the same.
Even regulars like Ed Curnow, Sam Docherty and SPS might need to be relocated somewhat to get the best out of themselves.

Since Teague tookover, i don't think we've lost by more than 6 goals. The list is better this year than last. Improvement will come.
Having Charlie Curnow in makes us a 3-4 goal better side, which makes us 2-0 instead of 0-2.

Harsh.

Pittonet vs Grundy
Clearances: 4-4
Marks: 3-3
CM: 2-1
Kicks: 7-7
Intercepts: 2-3
I50's: 3-1
Score involvements: 0-1
Scores: 1.1-0.0
....
Hitouts: 21-51

I'd like to see the hitouts to advantage stats to get a better picture of how dominant he was in the ruck.....but once the ruck contest was over, Pittonet had the better of Grundy IMO.
