Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2017 Rd 1 Ingame Adrenaline: Carlton vs Richmond
Was going to ask if he was on the ground then I saw him mark it. His spot is safe while we have no other ruckman.
We have too much height in defence. No run out of there.
We need one less tall in defence at least. If we're going to be more offensive this year then we need more run. That way we can carry it through the guts quickly into our forward 50. Right now we still get stuck out on the boundary.
2 birds, 1 stone.
Drop Casboult and let Rowe move into forward/ruck duties.
Rowe seems to like to punch the ball, let him do that from ruck contests.

The CSC Best and fairest?
No-one's voted this week but she's still won it by a country mile!
I was waiting for someone to bring the thread up, hadn't happened.
Just found it and voted now.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Players aint that smart are they?
It's interesting to compare the treatment of De Goey with that dished out to Shaw and Didak; a minimum of four weeks after they both lied to the club.
At the time, Nathan Buckley advocated a harsher penalty:
The conspiracy theory doing the rounds is that Buckley knew about De Goey's involvement in the fracas and the dog story was concocted by the club to try to protect De Goey.
Apparantly there are additional requirements enforced on DeGoey.
Must do some community service.
Will have to do some extended hours at the club (first one in, last one out type stuff - including VFL side) which could lead to 14 hour days on occasion.
$5000 fine.
I think its a fair whack.

So far we've got the leading goal-kicker covered, I'm assuming like the AFL the final doesn't count.
The Hun have named Bri as the games resident gun.
All we need now is the Rising Star and we've done pretty well without getting the ultimate chocolates.
While winning the HS award is nothing to be sneezed at, the ultimate award is coming up.
The 'W awards' is scheduled for next week i think. That is the Brownlow equivalent. I would hope Bri Davey takes the cake there as ultimately that is the one that matters.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: The Journey - Tues 15/3 830pm Fox Footy
Once again big tick.
With Bolton, I don't have any qualms about the personality type. He is the sort of person you would love to work for as he seems hard but fair, supportive but even measured in terms of looking at inputs vs outputs. Will praise the good stuff, and be constructive on the poor stuff, always linking it back to the values of the organisation.
We have a great manager of people.
What we don't know about is his ability to be an AFL senior coach. Tactically, I think it's hard to mark someone with a younger group of players, as they are still in the process of implementation of system. There will always be teething problems, particulary when compared to mature systems (i.e. Hawthorn, West Coast, Bulldogs et al) and there are always going to be the type of players that are incompatible with said systems that lurk around footy clubs which means that in can take time to get to a point where these players are no longer in the best lineup due to their ability to perform in that system vs their peers. The perfect example of this is Levi. He is easily a walk up start with us, but we need someone more competant in the ground level forward pressure, and finishing of work in that role. Until we identify one, he weakens the system.
At the end of the day, I hope that we stick with Bolton, as we have a truly competant human being here, who even if he is short tactically of being a great AFL coach has all the attributes that should see him get there by the time his career is over (unless the Carlton Football Club culture has something else to say about it).
Under no circumstances, should we think that sacking Bolton is a good idea based upon what I have seen of him as a person, and his particular skill set and methodology.
Someone said the other day (forget who) that Bolton is a great leader/educator of young man, but is questionable when it comes to the senior blokes.
That together with unknown tactical nous would be the only (potential) problems i see with him at this stage.
Given we have a gun young team, and in need of a cultural change. He is certainly the type of person we need at the club at present.
What happens 3 years from now? Who knows.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Players aint that smart are they?
Collingwood's had a long culture of this stuff, it won't be clear of it until there is forced change at the top.
The irony of McGuire slamming De Goey in the media while apparently taking little action beyond the average recovery period for a broken hand is not lost on anyone. Only the toothless hoards swallow that story.
3 week suspension once he is fit is a decent whack.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2017 Rnd 1: Carlton vs Richmond - Pre-Game
And when he does that, our other fwds need to work their defenders over to create opportunities, to where Rance aint, inside 50. He'll only do it once or twice before he has to pay more respect to his opponent.
We have other forwards?!

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: What are your expectations for 2017?
Yet all you MSM soaked sheep say we'll go backwards after a few JLT blow outs.
Shame the f.... on you.
Pretty sure i said it before the jlt series.

Shame on me for having an opinion?
Which according to the poll is, believe it or not, is the clear majority view.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2017 Rnd 1: Carlton vs Richmond - Pre-Game
Maybe start our tall forwards up the ground away from the goals so rance has to leave he's inner sanctum and play out of he's position on a back flank and play a curnow or a SOS at full forward. Cas and weits out side the forward fifty on the flanks. Upset there team structure. Just a thought
Rance would be happy to let our forwards get the ball outside 50.
He'll just sag off and wait for them to come back in and pick them up on the way through.

However, Tigers are mental midgets and are always ripe the picking.
They SHOULD win....but thats why they might lose.
Looking forward to playing a richmond side that doesn't have delidio in it. He's given us plenty of problems over the years.

Ladies Lounge / Re: AFLW - R7 - Carlton vs Brisbane
The AFL incompetence re AFLW grand final venue is breathtaking.
Am I missing something? Any well run organisation would have known the GF location by last weekend including all contingencies/backups etc. And how long ago did Adele perform in QLD?![]()
I'm tipping the Gabba staff put a higher priority on the mens AFL than the womens.
Mens playing there in R2 was probably the reason reseeding the turf after adele. If its not done now, it wont get done once the season starts
