The pile-on that Zac is experiencing probably won’t help 😡
He may not be at his best but he’s not far off and his class and ability show out. All of our defenders are under extra pressure with the absence of Saad and McGovern but I’m more than happy to back them in. Vossy and Sammy will make changes if necessary and Zac may need to freshen up or tweak his role. Either way, he’s a vital cog in our defensive structure.
14, 9 ,0 and 7 games in 3 and a bit seasons.
He's had no continuity in his game, and one could reasonably surmise that the ill fated attempt to turn him into a full time / mostly full time mid would have also knocked him off his trajectory.

A super effort by our boys. If ever one could be optimistic after a loss, it would be this game.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Fixture 2024
My ideal is to play every other side twice.
That's not going to happen with 18-20 sides.
Playing every other side once isn't a bad option to my mind...but the fly in the ointment would be broadcasters and sponsors who wouldn't wear a reduced season
Yes, no doubt that's right. I have the Jerry Maguire approach, which will never fly in a commercial environment. Too many suits and corporate types with their snouts in the trough, who will never accept a reduced pay day.

Opens the door for more football to be played in future.
Players in Europe play 40 games per year and their off season is two months.
We have a 22 game competition with five month off season (too long off season shouldn't be longer than three months).
There is no doubt in my mind that if I was a broadcaster I would demand more content and bang for my buck.
I think the intensity of AFL football is a good deal higher than soccer. I think the season is too long, given the list sizes. I would be either increasing playing lists or cutting the number of games. Based on current list sizes, I would have teams play each other once only, then top four plays finals. Less injuries, less wear and tear, players are fresher for longer, they have longer careers, and the end result is better quality football IMO. I've floated this idea in the past, and it's been about as popular as a severe dose of the clap. Still, i remain undaunted.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Carlton 2024 Predictions / Expectations
I haven't read every post in every thread. I'm wondering if I've missed some happy news related to the Crippa family? Or perhaps I'm mistaken and/or there's nothing official???
There's nothing as yet on the CFC website or the CFC Twitter account. There's a photo from Brownlow night a few weeks ago, and Monique doesn't look pregnant there.
I did notice that Mitch McGovern recently got married.

That's probably true...
You can hear a Stones song and can tell almost straight away it's the Stones.
It's a sound that's endured over decades.
The Beatles went through such a range of different sounds in the short time (less than ten years) that where together that where they finished up was 'chalk and cheese' to where they started.
The period of time when the Beatles decided to move away from mop top teen sensations, to serious musicians determined to push themselves to the limit, is the most spectacular transformation in pop music history. They were influenced by Bob Dylan's super trilogy of mid 60's recordings. U2 and Radiohead have followed suit and also went through a transformation in their careers.

I too had a listen. Always an admirer of The Beatles (who isn't) but not a huge fan (prefer the Stones). My opinion is that 'creating' a new song is better than having it left on an unlistenable cassette but it is hardly a great song.
I was interested to hear the other day 2 Brian Johnson ACDC songs with Bon Scott doing the vocals (via AI). Also a bit tinny sounding I thought but I always way preferred Bon vocals. Where will it end? Maybe me on lead vocals...
In a way, I also prefer listening to the Stones, but the two bands are on different planes IMO. The Stones were a great band, but the Beatles changed popular music forever. I think part of the reason the Stones are more user friendly is that they never really stray too far from their roots. They were, as Elvis Costello so wonderfully put it, "rabid RnB evangelists." The Beatles were genre busting, boundary pushing musical geniuses IMO.
