Nobody standing out in this game, hard to imagine McKay got that emergency listing. Must have been a bit of a bit of a spirit lifter for the kid.

Byrne looks a class above again, but we don't have the skills on the park to get him involved.

We look small and meek, seeing DVR intimidate our kids is not all that encouraging! :(

Jaksch is done I reckon, not much more to say!

Smedts thinks in slow motion then crucifies team-mates, seems to have an innate ability to use all the available time then make the exact wrong decision. For an experienced AFL player, very, very poor! He's a taller, slower version of Tutt!

melb got there A grade mids out and we are saying marchbank is a big out,we should win this game but i hope the game not played in dressing room.

I agree.

They look ripe for the picking in my opinion. We should see this as an opportunity to advertise ourselves as a destination club for potential trade targets, and send the snow bound bunnies off to Hotham dragging their sorry ar5es behind them!

Denis should be tearing it up in the VFL but he's barely having an impact.  I reckon that's not down to lack of effort, the game has passed him by ... and that happens to most great servants of the club.  It may be a little harsh but, with hindsight, giving Denis another year was perhaps not the best list management decision.

I don't have a problem with his short term deal, he's clearly acting in a mentoring role for the new kids and the AFLW.

As you know he is one of our more vocal players down at VFL level, and while he may no longer have that break-away power or influence he still knows where to be and when.

I suppose this is a difference between Denis and Daisy, Daisy's AFL game never really relied on outside run and pace, so in that respect Denis has a bigger hurdle to overcome to get into the 1s.

The Sports Desk / Re: Farewell Cooper Cronk?
No wonder Cooper wants to move to NSW instead of home to Qld!

I'm sure the NRL will investigate this new discovery, new for those blind to 30 years of "overs" payments. And with all it's resources penalise, fine and bludgeon Melbourne Storm for being too far south!

Yeah, only Melb Storm are the bad guys! ::)

We are really beginning to see a team discipline/ethic developing very strongly (which was betrayed a couple of weeks ago but we bounced back impressively... all is forgiven  ;D :D) So, stage one is just about locked into place - powerful and effective defensive culture. Next, let's kick some goals. Before the season is out I would really like to see us put together a 4 quarter performance that sees us belt the shizen out of our opponents and win by 60+

I thought when ACoS was in the team this looked more likely than before. I think you need some mongrel in a team to properly stomp on an opponent. You know if you get 30 or 40 points up the opposition are going to get physical, and in ACoS' absence we have very few willing to take on that aspect of the game.

We are a little bit meek when we are in front, and we go into self-preservation cruise mode too easily. If we fought as hard when in front as we do when we get 20 or 30 points down well see a lot better results. We need to be a little bit greedy, but greedy as a team not greedy as in self-reserving individuals!

It's hard to see it happening, but it would be interesting to see Rowe and ACoS playing side-by-side leaving Jones to get up the field as a monster sized version of Docherty.

Given that many pundits predicted that we'd go backwards this season, matching last season's performance isn't all that bad; particularly when you consider the inexperienced lineup we've used in most games.

It's still early but we are already likely to equal last season give or take a game.

I heard Brereton on radio yesterday defending his pre-season predictions of our imminent demise by claiming Carlton and other clubs with young lists like CheatsFC will go backwards in the remaining rounds as young bodies crumble under season long pressure.
