Murphy is on fire again....... a lot of wasted opportunities we should be a couple in front.  all in all not a bad start we just need to finish it off with more GOALS !!

Gold Coast field kicking and general skills are better but we want it badly, sheer desire might get us over the line.

Lynch leading Rowe to the contest by 5 metres every time, Bolton has to make a change there, is Marchbank quick enough?
Title: Re: 2017 Round 4 : In Game thread - Carlton V Gold Coast
Post by: LoveNavy on April 15, 2017, 08:42:41 pm
Murphy, Gibbs, Kruez leading by example.
Young Charlie, Pickett, Marchbank, SOJ, McCreadie all holding their own. Charlie and Pickett looking dangerous. Hope they can convert 2nd half. Stunning debut half by little Zac. How was his run down tackle ;D ;D
Williamson again looking like he belongs.
Our biggest issue is how to stop sticky hands Lynch.. >:(
Ed Curnow very hard at it. Great to get on the end of one. Reward for effort. 7tackles so far.

No real passengers and lots of promise. Just need the class to finish off.

Go Blues

Suns seem to only have one way of kicking goals, but it's a good one - rapid fire, fast and through the middle. Very efficient with their scoring.

This is what you get with a team full of kids, some good stuff, but you have to put up with the bad and the very bad!

Rowe no matter how good his form, no KPD for that matter, can defend against a team waltzing the ball through the midfield coast-to-coast with such ease.

But let's not make any mistake about why this is happening, in the first half we kept GC in the game with multiple misses from within 25m.

Let's see what Bolts comes back with , we were led to the ball that quarter. Mids very ordinary, missing tackles & they were away.

No legs at all.

No spread.

Needed to maximize our chances to be in this and haven't done it.

Can see a 8-10 goal loss coming.

Bloody hope im wrong.

Not convinced with Boltons game style. When we are dominating we dont move the ball quick enough through the middle. It gives opposition sides time to settle.

We had them in both the first and second but are too slow to move the ball on, instead we kick sideways and backwards.

Yep, GC spoilt for fwd targets. Mids really moving. Let's hope we have the momentum for the last. Great challenge ahead. Nothing to lose, so go for bust Blues. Hope we have some fuel left.

Bolton cannot kick it for them, we missed 3 or 4 from within 25m, GC should have been coming at us from 4 or 5 goals down not 6 points! ;)

It seems as though the Suns went man on man in the 3rd, in contrast to zones in the first 2.

We've won one game in 14 mate, do you think that could be due to confidence?

We've had plenty of shots, the straight kicking is the key not the KPF, blokes earning $300K should not be excused for missing the goals or the target from 25m.

This would've created scoreboard pressure in the first 2, but they changed things up in the 3rd, and went up another gear, and for whatever reason, we couldn't compete.

He's been injured since halfway through the 1st, but we kept playing him because we need cover for the kids we have out there!

GC set shots really showing us up with the simple shots we missed early. We had the chance to put scoreboard pressure on early , we are paying for it now

This would've created scoreboard pressure in the first 2, but they changed things up in the 3rd, and went up another gear, and for whatever reason, we couldn't compete.

That's too simple, it's no certainty that GC would gain such confidence if they were 3 or 4 goals down in the 2nd.

Confidence is everything, we were all over them and kept them in the game.

The Suns have some real class, and their game plan, whilst simple, looks very good once it clicks into top gear. Fast, efficient scoring, smart, experienced players, and good structures.

No doubt. But more importantly, they're also very good forwards.

Mind you, I don't think any team will be kicking a 3:1 goal/behind ratio very often.
Title: Re: 2017 Round 4 : In Game thread - Carlton V Gold Coast
Post by: LP on April 15, 2017, 09:36:57 pm
GC could kick 8 more goals in the next 20mins.

Our "kids" are statistically 8 of the 9 worst players on the field, that is reality! It's no point blaming blokes like Murphy, Gibbs, Thomas when you have a 3rd of the team not effective.

Just 1 crook player can cost you a game, we have 8 that have virtually disappeared after 1/2 time!

Yes, more midfield depth to spread the load must be a top priority.
