Title: 2017 Round 6 In game thread - Carlton v Sydney
Post by: PaulP on April 29, 2017, 02:31:29 pm
Apart from a couple of neat passages, what a god awful game. Swans can't mark or kick to save themselves. We look half decent.

Rank turnover from Casboult results in a coast to coast goal.

We seem to be starting to play them into a bit of form.
We're good like that  :'(

Just do not defend the opposition mids well enough.
They are left to roam free

We are a mile away from being even a competent AFL team. Our skills and decision making are embarrassing and we have no forward line so therefore we can't score. Really struggling to see any green shoots at the moment.

We look half decent.

I reckon that's because they're so bad.
A shadow of their former selves.

Casboult holds and has held the club bench press record for about 4 or 5 years, yet mini's break his tackles time after time!

Meat you massive traffic cone, it's called a Tackle not a Cuddle! You should be squeezing those fecks like a tube of toothpaste!

Swans started smashing the kids, Weiters down, SoJ down.

Wright gives us the lead, SoJ off looks like a shoulder or elbow.

Since that soft tackle Meat has gone off, must have got a rocket, another one! 34-27

This bloke would kick 150 in a season if he could kick consistently... Such a waste of marking talent.

Casboult off belted in the back of the head, not even a free!

Murphy having a shocker, I reckon he's cost us two goals so far from being poor by hand. Looks to be back to his old worst timid self, great when open, crap when under pressure. Making bad decisions despite getting plenty of ball.

SoJ in the rooms, unlikely to return.

Id been praising Murphy's hard ball efforts...

He needs support, he is quality but years of being left hung out to dry have caused him to develop a blink, he can't help it!

Worried about Weitering, excluding that head clash, too many times he's on the bench getting a minor bump or scratch attended. Our club's turning a kid who generally had white line fever into a high maintenance worry wort!

Paul Roos "they should take his body" - yeah, we know how your teams used to do it Roosy - except it was legs they used to take

What was Murphy thinking?

A classic Pox Bros momentum killing effort. Just waiting for his cohort in Gibbs in joining him with some lame effort in the second half. Nothing will be surer.

We're in this with a chance, it's hard to believe that Sydney played in last year's grand final.
A few of our scrubbers are having decent games so if Gibbs, Murph and Cripps can get into gear we could embarrass them.

Agree on Murph - being used as a spare parts man all over the ground. One of our better players so far.

Is there a different holding the ball rule for them than us?  We tackle and they drop it half a dozen times, for no call - fair enough that's how it is being called.  But then we get a couple in a row paid against us????

And don't get me started on Charlie's hand brushing Henney in that marking contest - in comparison to what cas and sos are copping at the other end
Title: Re: 2017 Round 6 In game thread - Carlton v Sydney
Post by: BluePhantom on April 29, 2017, 03:22:56 pm
too many of their players are on their defensive side of every contest. Everytime the ball goes to them they turn and handball 2 or 3 times and their out. While they are doing this others run to the wings and that is where the footy is kicked.
We ball watch too much and need to stay with our player.
We also seem to run toward our player with the ball instead of side ways and this always seems to allow the defender to make a contest.

There's different rules for the Swans in general.
I looked at stats pre game, and we've been getting a good run in terms of frees this year, but over the years, the absolute main reason I Fecking hate the Swans more than any other team is the favourable treatment they get from the umpires... Week in and week out. It sh1ts me to tears.

Fisher, finally someone who can hit a pass!

Williamson is a keeper, reminds me of Rhys-Jones, time to burn whenever he's got the ball!

Nice sneaky goal, but weak as p1ss from the umpires not to have stopped play. FFS a bloke out cold. Stop the game.

The rules changed this year, the umpires don't have to stop play until a natural opportunity occurs, unless the cart or stretcher interferes with play in which case they can stop immediately.

Obviously the cart driver is a Swans man, he was on the ground before the stretcher!

I'll be interested  to see how many times Sydney are pinged for holding the ball or incorrect disposal...  Can't remember one so far, and they have gotten away with at least a half dozen.

Yes, I think it's very foolish to do this to a 2nd year player.

We love burning kids, it's like our policy is if they survive we have a keeper!

Amateur hour with Cripps kicking for goal - first he get called back, then he kicks into the mark.

I'll be dead a thousand times over before this team hits top gear.

Good quarter from Graham, Fisher looks like a real footballer, Docherty sensational, Murphy and Gibbs starting to get involved.
We can win it.

they might be that last year, but this year they're 0-5. And playing awfully. I'm happy we're winning, but let's not kid ourselves with the "last year's grand finalist " line.

Every young kids dream to play a big game for their favourite team, probably  made even special by the family connection.
