Blah-Blah Bar / Re: The Venting Thread
Unhinged crazy was calling up complaining to a well known organization... Go figure.

The difference here is that the organization he was complaining about appears to have been poking him. We know he is a crazy, and it appears they lightly stretched the truth on some issues to help paint their ratings picture. If true, if they could have possibly even contributed to the break, shouldn't they at least apologise to the siege victims!

Has that radio station ever apologised to the family of the nurse, if it was a sincere apology I gather it would not have any strings attached?

Judd and Gibbs won most of their ball under pressure last year so that figures. Murphy gets a little more outside ball so that's probably where the difference is between the three. Defenders tend to have the best DE as a lot of their kicks go across the ground to uncontested targets.

Under the new rules Judd and Gibbs will get pinged for holding the ball in 2015.

Of course it depends who you are and who you play for, if Hodge gets caught/rundown I gather it's still a play on! :o

I read today with some despair that the Sydney siege madman, who's name I will not mention, had a list of frustrations linked to complaints against reports broadcast by Ch7s Today Tonight. At least that is the spin I take from the headlines and the story.

We have already had in the last year a depressed nurse killing herself over a radio joke, now after denials of any rumored link between the siege and Seven Studios, it surfaces that the madman had in fact made a litany of complaints to the media watchdog about Ch7s tabloid show Today Tonight.

Someone at Seven must have known the madman had made those complaints! :o

When will the media return to accountability, when will the nuffas in power stop accepting the hollow blurb that emits from anuses of the sociopaths in power in the media that it's an accountable, responsible and reliable citizen.

How gutless are our politicians that they think the media cannot be held to account?

I am not talking about censorship, but self-regulation is clearly not working!

I cannot lay blame for the siege on Seven, the acts of a madman are inherently mad.

However, if a media organization behaves in a manner that breaks the camels back surely they must answer to somebody. The media should not be able to push, poke and prod insane, murderous or suicidal people without some accountability.

That's my rant and I'm sticking to it! ;)

Blah-Blah Bar / Re: "Hello, How Are You ?"
A young guy who used to work in my department, would walk in each morning and say "Morning Brett", which was fine, as I'd reply with "G'day mate", but then he'd follow my reply with "How are you?".......that robotic auto-pilot follow-up did my head in, to the point that one day I actually said to him: "Mate, if I'm here, then just assume that I'm good, you don't have to ask me every single day".....he never asked again after that & I was happy. :D

Grumpy prick :P

 ;D I'd argue if I could.....

You need to add a handshake to that routine and it'll sort you out, it's just bizarre how well it works! Must be some sort of fecked up evolutionary thing!

Our Press don't mourn the others facing the firing squad.
Does the Press get vicarious pleasure from leading us step by step through to rifles crack?

I'm 100% in agreement with you.

I was thinking the same very thing last night and again this morning while listening to "Eddie Everywhere" and his offsider "The Hair Sniffer" do their AM radio spot. I thought I might ring up and ask them to list a few of the other Internationals shot in Indonesia over the last few years. I heard someone comment as such to Bolt, I suspect Bolt is now busily studying a list of Internationals executed by Indonesia just in case he is asked the question live!

Where was their protest on those occasions?

It's just more proof to me it is all about ratings for them, if James Hird comes out and states he is thinking about the pair it must be the start of the reckoning! ;)

If you want a national identity The Sheik is actually onto something.

The practice of "Saying Hello" or "Good Morning" works wonders within large organizations at generating an identity as part of team building. So much so that many organisations now require you to say a "Good Morning, Afternoon or Evening" as well as shake hands with all team members at the start of each day/shift.

A sickening as this sounds to some, it actually works! :o

"Hello, how are you ?"

Surely the time has come for people to adjust the way they speak to one another especially complete strangers !!

You must be from Sydney, walking around Adelaide I can't stop people from talking to me, in fact they talk to anything even the walls! ;)

Whilst it is meant as a term of endearment, do you really honestly care about the wellbeing of that girl at the supermarket checkout or the anonymous voice on the other end of the telephone ??

I think not and it sounds so fake & condescending that it needs to be phased out of our vernacular.

But if the girl at the checkout is a minor, by the way not all checkout staff are girls, you might find yourself on some unwanted watch list or twitter! :o

Try listening to talkback radio when they are running a quick quiz, every person who rings up asks the host "how are you" and clearly that person must be okay because the previous six callers in the recent 60-secs asked the same question & got the same answer.

Greeting a friend, stranger or person in business with a simple "hello" or "good morning" should be the minimum level of manners but what should come after that or is there an actual need to further the conversation ??

It seems normal down here, why is Sydney so different? :D
(Perhaps it's too close to Canberra!)

Did you see the photos they were taking on the plane to death island? They love all this attention we're giving them.

There is no reason to expect the Indonesian media has any higher morality than our own! ;)

Also, you have to keep in mind that many elected to office in Indonesia come out of the military, paramilitary or police. When they get their face on TV it is a bonus, regardless of the circumstances!

If Australia and Indonesia are serious about the war on drugs, they would give the families of the guilty asylum, and those found guilty protection and life in prison in return for evidence against the Mr Bigs!

Killing the nobodies actually removes evidence against the Mr Bigs!

Maybe that says more about some in high office in Indonesia and Australia! :o

Not just murder, some people live for another 6-7 minutes. What a terrible way to die. Why not just shoot them in the back of the head so it's at least quick and painless. Inhumane bastards.
Yep
Even if you believe these folk deserve to die the method of execution is totally out of line for this day and age.

I think the method is more about preserving the mental health of the shooters.

Probably not completely....a lot of folk are holding back a bit at the moment in comments and actions.
They're still playing the diplomacy game.
If this thing goes ahead there are likely to be some repercussions, not only here but in Indonesia, that will put a bit of a strain on relations.

I think you be surprised by how few people really care, and how widely drugs have affected every day people and left them bitter. Out of those alleged seven trips the two completed, how many drugs were moved and how many users died? I read an article some weeks back that suggest between 3 and 10 for every trip they made, that 20 to 70 people dead from their activities.

While I do not agree with executions, I think there will be far bigger local repercussions if EFC don't get whacked! ;)

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Tonight
At this point, I think we need to be happy that our boys are coming through the games unscathed, and that a few lessons are being learned and thats about it.

Those boys need to get up to speed and perform as quickly as possible against real opponents, because before last weekend we already had the longest injury list in the AFL! :o

Plus the MARs and journeymen among them are not kids, they have been playing senior football for a number of years, as a result they don't get time to toughen up!

For me Liam Jones is a real worry. They have talked him up and talked him up, "The Beast" the dubbed him at training, yet the first real game he plays it's the "same old - same old" he dished up at the Bulldogs.

You need some thug in you to succeed at AFL level, being a super-talent or a super-athlete is not enough. It's athletic thugs like Hodge, Brown, the Scotts and Voss that really leave their mark on the game!

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Tonight
Im forken sick of people bring up Luke Hodge or for that matter Jordan Lewis when conversation turns to being "hard" and "tough". Those two are just snipers who do there best work under the protection of the AFL. Fork them both, I hope one day Clem cleans up Hodge (fair and square) and ends his career.

Agreed, Hodge is a dog of a player who earned the bulk of his reputation by burying his knee in blokes who bravely backed into the pack!
