Thought Cripps game, aside from the misses, was fantastic.  His in an under work was excellent and helped us kill the Dons in the clearances.

Will have (c) next to his name at some stage.  He just seems to have the presence of a leader.

Once his confidence grows, realises he belongs, he seems like the guy who will say "enough is enough" and lead from the front. Liked his game a lot, must play week in week out.

Did anyone notice Ellard revving the boys up at start of the 4th qtr?

Foot skills kill us every week, either field kicking or kicking for goal or both.
We're a bottom 4 side.
The only thing in this world worth more than a hill of beans is the Carlton Football Club.

Did anyone else suspect Hendo's arms were chopped with that marking attempt with a few minutes to go? Or did he just lose his grip? Clutching at straws here, when desperate for us to get closer.........

Drop both of them !!

Agree Sheik.

just back from the game. They are both gone. Carazzo was probably gone last year and Curnow doesn't have the speed top keep up anymore.

i see Whiley got 29 possys in the two's, liker you can't wait to get him in.'

Need to re-structure the side. Too many slow players going through the guts. Curnow, Carrazzo and Ellard, we can only play one of those. We want speed but Buckley doesn't play. We did well in contested possession but had no run at all.

Cripps is big and takes a good pack mark. He would be very useful forward with Menzel and Walker. Whiley can take Cripps spot in the guts.  Don't need Jones. Like Armfield back in the side. No star but give you pace, aggression and something unusual here, effort!

Byrne was the highlight of that game.  100% effective with his kicking (at least I can't remembering him missing a target), showed desperation, and was fast.  Wanted to take the game on.

We were rubbish in the second quarter (again), made a minor yelp in the third and were all over them in the fourth.  We kick straight we get close to winning.

Thought Cripps game, aside from the misses, was fantastic.  His in an under work was excellent and helped us kill the Dons in the clearances.  Everitt was also good and again so was Docherty.  Also liked Simpsons game.  Murphy showed some interest in the last quarter but vanished when we needed a steadying hand in the second.  Judd might not have got a chunk of the ball, but he did impact the game.

Curnow needs to be dropped.  Ellard kicked in a nice goal but he doesn't set me alight.  Thought Army put in four quarters.  Tom Bell tried but will always be held back by his lack of skill.  Jones contested but that's about it.  Casboult the same.  Hendo did his best both forward and back.  Yazz was lazy but, like Walker, gave us a spark up forward.  Walker was good and a welcome return.  Rowe played his best game of the season, but still wasn't great.  Jamo was OK and seems to be injured.  Tooey was good, took some nice marks.  Wood isn't good enough.

So, a better effort than the last two weeks but our butchering of the ball and in front of goals is a problem that MM has failed to fix in 3 effin years.  With the clearance and contested ball domination we should have won by five goals.  But our inability to hit a target killed us every single time.

Mondy

Nice summary, Mondy.
Love Byrne, already got an old man's man crush on him.
Ellard finds it hard to run out a full four quarters.
I would call Bell into my office if I was coach and ask him if making stupid decisions comes naturally to him, or if he has had to work on it.
Jamo's shoulders are gone and he's protecting them at all costs.

And once again, there were times when we got the ball around the wing or centre,, for example Judd in the first quarter, only to look up and not one of players was up forward to kick to. Judd gets caught holding the ball. I cannot fathom why the instructions from Mick can't be that at all times one forward must stay in the forward 50.

Bar the draw in 2011 it about as close as we've ever been to Essendon in round 3. We had a much easier time playing them lateer in the season.

Cripps
Byrne
Whiley
Jaksch
Menzel
Buckley
Docherty
are all exciting young players .........let's play them

Casboult to get the 50m arc with Walker when either Kreuzer or Warnock return.

Wood, Curnow, Ellard, Rowe, Tutt are solid VFL players & no more than that!
