Jim Park Voting: AFL 2021 Rd 8: Carlton vs Western Bulldogs

Voting is as usual: you have 15 votes to award pretty much as you will, with the following provisos:
[1] 15 votes in total, no more, no less.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Cripps)
[3] Three players at least must get a mention.
[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-.

The rest I just wasted.

Carlton vs Western Bulldogs

Team:   B-
I hate losing, but we were pretty good for a lot of this game, a lot better than the Dogs were. Had those easy missed goals gone in, and a few frees not be plucked from a posterior, we would have won.
As it was, we pushed the 2nd best team going around at the moment to a couple of goals. That isn’t rubbish.

Votes:
[2.5]   Jacob Weitering
[2.5]   Harry McKay
[1.5]   Sam Walsh
[1.5]   Eddie Betts
[1.5]   Sam Docherty
[1.5]   Ed Curnow
[1]   Matthew Cottrell
[1]   Marc Pittonet
[0.5]   Matthew Owies
[0.5]   Lachie Plowman

Explanations:
[2.5]   Jacob Weitering:   His opponent got 2 kicks in junk time. When the game was up for grabs. Weitering ruled his position and took some great defensive marks.
[2.5]   Harry McKay:   H trashed his opponent in the air all day. Pity we couldn’t get the ball to him more than we did.
[1.5]   Sam Walsh:   For 3 quarters he was BOG.
[1.5]   Eddie Betts   5 goals was a just reward for Eddie’s performance. He beat his opponent all day.
[1.5]   Sam Docherty:   Doc got more of the ball than any other Blue and didn’t turn it over every time today. He beat his opponent comfortably.
[1.5]   Ed Curnow:   Dynamic in the middle for 3 quarters, Ed died in the last.
[1]   Matthew Cottrell:   An excellent job on his win.
[1]   Marc Pittonet:   Pitto did his job to the best of his ability and really worked his guts out. Unfortunately, he couldn’t dominate his opponent, so they often got the clearances.
[0.5]   Matthew Owies:   two goals and a lot of tackles suggests that Owies suggests Owies has a future.
[0.5]   Lachie Plowman:   A very solid job in defence.

Honourable Mentions:
Levi Casboult:   Levi was much better than he has been of late. He took some lovely marks. But that was where the problems started, as almost everything he touched ended up badly. But this was probably the best he has marked the ball all season.
David Cuningham:   Cunners was Cunners again: what he did was brilliant, but he just didn’t touch the ball enough.
Jack Newnes:   Newnes died in the last quarter, like most of his teammates, but he was solid up to then.
Live Long and Prosper!
