Absolutely agree. I was asked last night before the game who I'd prefer to win, all bias against the filth aside, and I picked the Pies. Much prefer to face them next week.No doubt if we make it through playing the pies would provide added motivation, let’s get through today and then we can greet them with our ‘blue fury’!
I think that there is still an underlying question in the back of most Carlton peoples' minds... "Can we be trusted yet?"Trick is not the view them as our peers, I reckon we've gone past a couple of them at least!
Port was great, Collingwood exceptional but sometimes I think we are most vulnerable against our peers, and we come up against a couple of those in the next four weeks. St Kilda, Gold Coast and GWS are all around us and teams that we should beat, given out recent form......but can we be trusted yet???
That's how you win a game ........ tackle hard, chase hard, pressure the opposition & attack the ball-carrier.TDK was poor IMO, had multiple chances to impact the game and fluffed every chance
Fogarty's tackle on Mihocek (?) was first class.
Weitering was superb all night.
There was hardly a poor player on the field tonight.
Me neither, same for Marchbank and Williams....they just dont play enough games through the season or impact enough.I voted for Martin purely out of hope, same for Williams.
I think Boyd was next to Charlie.Just skulked a beer when Cornow got 3 vs Sydney
I actually agree, emotion of the moment got to me!Agree, needed to go back take his time and own the moment. This is the next step in his development to becoming the champion we all hope he can be.
On reflection we need to teach, Charles in particular... discernment. Learn when to take your time and use a drop punt. He has shown that he can launch a deadly drop punt from outside 50, so the ability is there. Again, and common with our group - above the shoulders... and inexperience.
We beat Sydney and Fremantle this year.We need to beat 1 more good side to have any credibility this season.
Can't say we've only beaten crap sides
This is a game we should not only win, but win well. The Midgets are ripe for a burying, I hope we're up for the task. Quite a few of our blokes have to lift after last week's effort.Yep, our form seems to have flattened out, a strong win could be just the tonic we need to restore our confidence for the run home.
The one saving grace about the stage fright phenomenon is that it happened during the Home & Away. I would like to think we will be far better prepared next time (assuming we get another crack!).Was thinking the same thing watching the game on Saturday night, a reality check for what happens when you're not 100% switched on.
Saint Nick is full of bd. We have the longest injury list in the league. How could you make a reasonable prediction of a flag based on that fact.Really smacks of acknowledging our performances in the hope of us failing and fearing our success. No one would have expected us to contend this year, much less with the worst injury list in the league, yet we continue to defy the odds and these closet critics can’t stand it. Gotta love what we’re doing right now!
Tigers, Lions, Suns, Swans, Pies all have <6 out. They are some of the teams we're up against for a top 8 finish.
Kemp had 17 touches, Freo’s Brodie had 36 🙂OK, that’s makes more sense, I just got back from a short trip to Europe landing this morning so it’s back to bed for me! Seriously though I was happy with Kemps’ second half and he looked like he was finding his feet at the level. No doubt it helped that we were on top for most of the second half but he definitely wasn’t out of place. Another that might begin to establish himself along with Young and Boyd as a result of the opportunities created by our injury list.
I thought that Kemp played very well against a much bigger and more experienced opponent. He defends hard, spoils well and makes good use of the pill when he gets. He has a good step and the acceleration to get clear of his opponent when he has possession. A different skill set to our other defenders.
