Righto, enough of three slips and a gully leg spin knee stump wicket blah blah blah crap. 
 
It's time for the Australian Open.  :))
 
The Aussies have had a tough opening draw....from memory Bernie Tomic has Rafa in the first round. Ash Barty has Serena Williams. 
 
Difficult to say this early who is going to win this Grand Slam...but I'm going to stick my neck out and say Nadal will nab this one.

What do we all think of this business? 
 
We all knew Rodman was crazy but he's now calling the North Korean dictator his best friend. 
 
Just saw Kim Jong Un's birthday celebrations on the news with Rodman organising a basketball game with some former NBA stars. 
 
Do you think this poses as a threat to US security? 
 
Is Rodman really that crazy or is he another brainwashed victim of NK??

The Sports Desk / Soccer fans' behaviour
Been in the news a bit lately. Why don't these see you next Tuesdays pull their heads in and just enjoy a night out at the soccer. Is it really that boring that they need to start blueing? WTF is the matter with them. Never liked the a league myself...always thought it was for tryhards trying to emulate the overseas culture.

Robert Heatley Stand / The Judd Era - Expectation Vs. Reality
Post 2007 saw somewhat of a Carlton FC rebirth...not of the kind that many long-time fans are used to, littered with premierships, but to be simply back and involved in finals footy and daring to dream yet again. 
 
The arrival of Chris Judd sent everyone into raptures about how he'll lead us to our next flag and we will once again wear the crown of most premierships in the competition. Some of the expectations were clouded by judgement from too much excitement, others were clouded by experiences of glory years past, while some just innocently dared to dream. 
 
Fast forward to 2014 coming into a new season. Reflect and elaborate on your expectations of where you thought Carlton footy club would be at this point in time (2014), and whether it was a justifiable expectation, one clouded through the rollercoaster emotions of our game, or if you'd chosen a more cautious approach and had expectations in line with our current reality. 
 
Personally, I was guilty of a bit of premiership dreaming at the end of 2011 into the first three rounds of 2012. Justifiable? Well, the brave effort the boys put in against WCE over in Perth in that final, after belting Essendon in the EF the week before had me dreaming for season 2012. 
 
Thought we'd have played off in a Grand Final at the very least by now, and given some of the footy we played from late 2011 to very very early 2012, it was probably justifiable. On reflection, I was way off.  
 
Since mid 2012 however, my expectations have lowered to be more in line with our current reality. Am tipping us to miss the eight in 2014, though if everything goes right, we could finish as high as sixth. 
 
Be interesting to read what some of you had been expecting years ago when the 'Judd Era' began and whether or not the club's reality at this point in time matches up with said expectations of yesteryear.

Hope you all have a good one. I'm certainly having a good NYE... 3/4 of a slab deep and is not even midnight.  ;D
 
Hope to see a lot of you for a few convivials at a Blues game throughout the year. Hope everyone has all their wishes granted for the new year. And wish all the best.

Blah-Blah Bar / Foxtel Problem
Only known for a few minutes and I'm going insane. Fair certain the Foxtel unit has blown up and it doesn't work any more. Has anyone else had this problem? 
 
Saw a spark come from the powerboard before, thought nothing of it. Went to chuck the idiot box on before and low and behold, the Foxtel box has no power. Unplugged it and plugged it back in, turned the powerpoint off and back on again, and no luck. Perhaps it shorted or something.
 
What's it cost to get a bloke out to fix it? Do they do it for free? Or maybe I just send him out with a sixer of VB on his way out and we call it even?  ;D

Hit me with some of your best! We are still months out from it all starting again and I am struggling without it. I follow other sports but its just not the same. What do you do to get you through the off season? Might go to NT and enjoy their season.  :D

Had this brainwave over night. How about a CSC photo with as many people in it as possible? We can take it at Visy Park. Just like a school photo only CSC. Make them available in calendars format for those important dates for the new year, portrait format suited to a nice frame for the wall or even a CD rom format. It'd be just brilliant. Not just one photo either, two of them. One where we smile nice and another one where we all make funny faces or do the bunny ears thing (or stick up your finger)  ;D

I should have a career in marketing.  ;D Thoughts?
