Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Elimination Final 1 Pre Game Prognostications Carlton vs Sydney
Far too much +ve Carlton press this week for my liking!  Thankfully Maynard will take some of the attention away.  Sydney have been ignored, but quietly been in some reasonable form as well.

Don't think it will be a good night for footy - hopefully we can play ugly better than Sydney.  Whatever it is, it won't be a easy game.

Dow as sub for me - he has shown he can and will contribute and is a good option to go into the midfield if others need to be moved around (as has been mentioned)

Bad luck on the weather WASurfer, but hopefully you enjoy your time here.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Where are our goals going to come from?
Maths says Thry is right - 275.272=1,922 points for the season as per the ladder

This is 106 more points than last season but we played one more game

Pity we didn't score a couple more points last season.

Who cares - it doesn't matter what we score as long it is more than the opposition and isn't Ross Lyon brand footy.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 21 2023 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs St Kilda
St Kilda were pretty good in the first half and like others I was thinking here we go again - should I stop watching now and do something useful?  We were OK, but entries into 50 were ordinary and they got a few easy goals.

We got smarter after half time and worked harder, which paid off.  St Kilda got tired, it seemed.

Commentators were pumping up Fish in the first quarter, made note of how quiet he was in the 2nd and treated him normally after that.

Players would be speaking to the line coaches on the eau de cologne, but it does look odd particularly with Vossy next to them.

Dow is pretty strong at the footy and can get it - hopefully he and his teammates get confidence out of that.  Rapt for him kicking that goal.

Charlie was obviously quiet, but still managed to do some very good things.  Plenty of contributors this week.  Be interesting if Boyd comes straight back in.

Commentary was OK when BT wasn't involved, when he was it went downhill quickly.  (As an aside, I was gardening and listening to SEN for Nth v Melb game - pleasanly surprised with no hyperbole - they were actually calling the game - we could tell what was happening,  so well done!)

Good game.  Lots of our guys played well.  While our opposition wasn't much - we buried them and won convincingly, but no need to get carried away.

Good signs and work ethic, now to replicate this for the rest of the season.

(Dwayne seemed to have the JSOS love going on)

The Sports Desk / Re: God help me - the Test Cricket thread
EB1 - so do you think that Bairstow would have given Marnus a warning had he hit the stumps and was out of his crease?  (moot point as it didn't happen).  Or that was a bad look for the game?  Carey let go of the ball before Bairstow had left his crease - he didn't wait for him to leave and then trhow it.

My concern is that in park cricket this is tried 10 times on a Saturday afternoon.  Haven't seen it work yet.  This will only encourage the keepers and that will double to 20 times!
