Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Rd 23: Post Game Party? Blues come home in the last!
I am putting the acid on defence Coach Gavin Brown:

There were 2 snap shot forward pocket goals by the Port Forwards but no Carlton defender blocked the Half Forward / forward pocket space to prevent them running off the mark at right angles....

BASIC ERROR AND LAZY FOOTBALL.......

The Trengrove to Westhoff goal was a shocker....the bloke on the mark had his back to the play and was casually marking the turf when the Hoff strolled into kick the goal....the player on the mark and the player minding Westhoff should be doing a lot of pushups and running this week...

Walker's effort looked worse than it was; even if he had his eyes on the ball, he could never have got near enough to Westhoff to affect the kick.  Westhoff's direct opponent probably should be in the gun.

Tuohy gets away with that play on an incredibly regular basis.  Forwards must shut down defensively when the opposition is shooting for goal.

Kreuzer had 2 kicks and one handball. Nowhere near good enough for four quarters.

True PI2C, but Kreuzer did lay eight tackles and slotted a nice goal.  He was also unlucky to miss out on a free for interference in a marking contest just outside the goalsquare.

I think Kreuzer is a player who needs to play himself into form.  Hopefully, he'll be better for the run.

Yes, Murph took a big step forward in the leadership stakes tonight.

No doubt...both he and Gibbs were challenged by the coach and delivered. Murphy looked better down forward and his finishing was important.
Credit also to Yarran who played very well and his work was very classy at times....

Credit must go to Malthouse who really put the onus on the leaders and even Duigan I thought was a valuable player...

Big question is can this same group of players who won the game for us tonight led by Murphy deliver again next week....

Come on EB, I don't expect sycophantic comments from you.

Hopefully Malthouse now realises that playing Yarran off halfback is critical to our success, as is having Duigan put his big frame into the contest.

If Malthouse is as good a coach as some would have us believe, he will throw his pre-conceived ideas about structures and favourites out the window and build on what worked in previous seasons.

We're still a way off a genuine finals contender but there is huge potential if we can retain Betts, play Yarran and Walker in their best positions, pick up a genuine KPP and get at least one of our rucks to win the ball around the ground.  Encouraging risk taking football as Hawthorn plays wouldn't go astray but that may be a 'bridge too far' or our rather conservative coach.

Finally, I'm leading my former workplace's footy tipping by 3 coming in to this round . . . and I tipped Port Adelaide  :(  It could cost me dollars but I don't mind  8)

DJ...not flattering anyone  to buy any favours or changing my opinions over one game just giving credit where its due to the individuals who won the game.... a win is a win and someone must have done something good to achieve the result.

As I said the challenge is there for the players I mentioned to do it again....am I sold on Murphy as captain ..No...Gibbs as a A grade matchwinner...No... Duigan to keep his place on the list..No
and while I will give Malthouse another 12 months there is nothing to suggest he has improved this team as yet or is just another Pagan collecting his super.

The three amigo's forward line wont win us a flag, we need decent KP forwards....prefer Yarran on the wing...

If your assessment is correct EB, why has it taken Malthouse an entire season to "challenge" Murphy, Gibbs, Duigan and other leaders?

I don't believe Malthouse did anything different, other than perhaps swallowing a little pride and accepting that the previous coach had worked out the best positions for a few players.  My take is that some of the players - particularly Murphy, Gibbs, Yarran, Betts, Duigan, Garlett and Walker - took it upon themselves to show that it hasn't been a wasted season.

I agree with you that the three amigos shouldn't all be on the forward line; Yarran should be running off half back and Betts and Garlett have to provide a greater midfield contribution.  A KPP is a must have for next season and I'd love to see a Stevie J type forward/midfielder in navy blue.  I'm not convinced that Menzel has a place in our best 22 and I don't think that Kreuzer and Warnock can form an effective ruck partnership.

The Karma thing is ok but you should be able to see on particular posts who gave it a like or dislike. It stops people abusing the system I think.

Can't believe that just because LR didn't like it that he seeked, then it was taken down. He's not that much of a prima donna surely.

I would prefer a system where you could "like" or "dislike" a post.  That would save all those "X2" posts.

Hey! The forum wouldn't be the same without it's  x2, +1 and This^^^^es! :P

x2.  ;)

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: R22 Carlton vs CheatsFC Pre Game
I wish they would stop naming Walker at CHF.  It was funny for the first couple of rounds but it's getting a little tired now.

That is probably the best balanced and most flexible line-ups we have named all season.  I can't see Henderson spending a lot of time in the back half but, if he has to, we can cover that.  The only real question mark is over how Kreuzer and Warnock work together.  If that pans out well, Ryder will be in for a torrid time.

Good on ya pot stirrer. Now we will lose our avatars and our names. Next I will be a gender symbol 0-> or 0+ and my name will be 16237. I still wonder why our post count was scrapped.

LR didn't like Karma and got it removed and that's fair enough as it was never a part of the original CSC. As for post counts if the mods want to scrap them then that's cool but also scrap any new progressive tally eg the current faux player elevation model.  Personally I like the idea of post counts from the original site which I believe pre dates the 2004 model.

I'm not that fussed about post counts and the faux player elevation model is not something I take seriously.  Quality of posts rather than quantity is more important to me.

I guess Karma measures populism and those who contribute well-reasoned but unpopular posts could be shafted.  Still, it created a bit of additional interest and it was an improvement on the original CSC.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but the Karma scores seem to have disappeared . . . and I was quite proud of my two points  :)

Don't tell me that some of my fellow CSCers are unhappy with their Karma ratings and have had the function disabled  ::)
