Title: Pick your best 22 - PART 4 - At the halfway point
Post by: kruddler on May 27, 2023, 10:43:31 am
Well, the last couple of these we have found a relatively stable best 22.

I wonder how this one will go. Could be a bit of licorice all-sorts.

So....choose 22 players no more, no less.
Stay away from Williams and Philp who are ineligible.

Just on Philp he lives around the corner.  Seen him eith steel cap boots covered in concrete loading and unloading his Ute.  Would say that's curtains for his career unless he's just taking a break.

I don't know how/why he was signed up for 2023 personally.

No chance i would sign him for 2024.

It's a little tricky...Marchbank at his best would be in my best 22
On yesterday's efforts probably not...and to be honest I'm not sure we can trust his durability.

I picked him, its not the first time either.

He might not be as athletic as Gov, nor as penetrating with his kick, but he is more consistent and more reliable.....and largely underrated.
Can he get back to what he was? Thats the million dollar question to which i don't have an answer.....but i'd like to think so.

I counted them up and had 23...so I looked for one to omit and it was Marchbank.
So with a sub and 23 he probably gets a game. ;)  ;D

Marchbank needs moving on, way too slow and thats not going to work for a non KP player in the modern game..got a few kicks vs the Swans kids from the burbs team but we are already slow without adding him to what we already have.
We need a Maynard down back not a Marchbank...

Marchbank and consistent or reliable should never be used together!!!

Should have been delisted 3 years ago. Flogging a dead horse along with Williams Cunningham McGovern and mr consistency himself Martin.

All useless if we want to improve and not deserving of a cent more of our cap.

18 touches, 9 marks in 3 qtrs. Wasn't bad, well, based on that anyway.

He was OK, but I wouldn't be playing him next week (unless we run out of players).
Needs a few more weeks at the lower level.

He looked to have the agility of TV unit. He might do ok in Super Rules.

Not a lot of people voting in this one.

Lets try and get some significant trends going.

Trends so far...

No love for Ed Curnow
Owie's the pick of the small forwards.
Someone didn't pick Saad
Lots of love for a first yearer in Hollands
McGovern not rated highly...nor is Young..dearth of Key defenders.

It was hard picking 18. let alone 22.

12 people voted so far, and not one of them has chosen current 'best 22' player in Ed Curnow.

Nobody has chosen past 'best 22' player in Lachie Plowman either.

Its highly likely at least 1 will be playing this week.....potentially 2.

Shouldn't it be 23 as it's 22 and a sub?
