Title: Male Contraception
Post by: LP on July 10, 2019, 04:54:42 pm
Apparently medical science is now more than ever before close to offering a male contraceptive pill.

But, I often wonder at the absolute bona fide of feminism and equality.

I appreciate in many areas it's both right and makes sense, but a male contraceptive doesn't seem to be one of them!

For a very simple reason, ............ Trust me baby, I'm on the pill! ;)

Where is the bulk of the risk, the majority cost of a deception or error, with the male or the female?

Some things just shouldn't be, doing something because you technically can doesn't always make sense! I think they made a movie about this, .......... Gone in 60 Seconds!

I think it matters more in long term relationships.
Many women, for one reason or another, cannot use hormonal contraception and may have some other reason they cant use a copper IUD.
Some men have difficulty performing (genuinely) with condoms.
I get what you are saying though, and agree.

I think that the benefits will be for those in long term relationships where female-focused contraception is not possible or desirable.

Lying about being on a male contraceptive is no different to lying about having had a vasectomy or wearing a condom.  Some blokes will cheat, others will happily take some of the heat off their partner.

Well said.

Ultimately it comes down to the honesty and integrity of the relationship and each of the individuals involved. Maybe Mrs Baggers and I are freaks but we have no secrets from each other and have the utmost respect / trust in and for each other. If she'd prefer I took the contraceptive... no brainer.

I agree with all the above comments, but it won't stop assholes being assholes!

Just like people sell pills to cure cancer, or creams, lotions and shampoo to fix sexual dysfunction or baldness! The minute this male pill becomes available it will be mainstream marketed as a responsible insurance for the one you love, and viral marketed as a rape all with impunity tool just like viagra's black market associates closely with GHB! Drugs that started off as solutions to serious problems such as impotence or alcoholism!

It seems like a dark perspective, but it's closer to reality than optimistic altruism!

I wonder what happens to the environment when drunken bastards piss this stuff all over the beach and rivers, smile you are swimming in it?

Putting bromide in the tea was considered the best option for young men at the school I went to.  :)

So why bother even giving them 1 second of your valuable time/thoughts?

It's something to talk about Baggers, a joyful distraction in otherwise oscillatory dark times for Carlton FC! ;)

They invented another new pill for men - it's a mix of Viagra and Prozac.

If you don't get lucky, it doesn't bother you too much......
