Saint Nick is full of bd. We have the longest injury list in the league. How could you make a reasonable prediction of a flag based on that fact. Tigers, Lions, Suns, Swans, Pies all have <6 out. They are some of the teams we're up against for a top 8 finish.
Really smacks of acknowledging our performances in the hope of us failing and fearing our success. No one would have expected us to contend this year, much less with the worst injury list in the league, yet we continue to defy the odds and these closet critics can’t stand it. Gotta love what we’re doing right now!
I thought that Kemp played very well against a much bigger and more experienced opponent. He defends hard, spoils well and makes good use of the pill when he gets. He has a good step and the acceleration to get clear of his opponent when he has possession. A different skill set to our other defenders.
OK, that’s makes more sense, I just got back from a short trip to Europe landing this morning so it’s back to bed for me! Seriously though I was happy with Kemps’ second half and he looked like he was finding his feet at the level. No doubt it helped that we were on top for most of the second half but he definitely wasn’t out of place. Another that might begin to establish himself along with Young and Boyd as a result of the opportunities created by our injury list.
I caught the second half today and while he did some nice things after half time was surprised to see Kemp had 36 touches. No doubt his best game statistically however I’d be keen to hear others comments on his performance.
They toyed with the idea of giving him another week in the WAFL to control his minutes and avoiding aggravating his back sitting on a plane to Melbourne. If he got on the plane he is good to go.
Agree, they know even at 80% he'll trouble our undersized backline. He'll play and we need to deal with him, Lobb and whoever else wanders down forward. If our midfield can give us the ascendency then we'll give them similar headaches down our forward line as there aren't too many backlines that can handle Mackay and Curnow when they're getting plenty of opportunities.
Lets remember, he played 21 AFL games, albeit for Norf, so he isn't exactly a newby. Probably both need to come in, I m sure Kemp can be given a role in defence. We are running out of options.
Last man standing, get's a game unless we try Kemp down back again......
A win without out our Capt, take that any day. Can we please, PLEASE when we kick the ball to Harry or Charlie we kick it in front of them NOT on top of their heads. Both when they have a run onto a marking contest they are almost unbeatable but when they have to just stand and try to take a mark they are easy to defend. Both are athletic and are troubling defenders. When the ball is kicked to where they are standing all the holding and scragging by the defenders is not seen by the umps but when they are on the move to a contest the infringements are easily picked up. A win is a win and at 4-1 playing badly is heaps better than playing you're absolute best and just scraping over the line. Being starved of success for so long we want it to be pretty but great teams find ways to win ugly and we are learning to win ugly.
Summed it up nicely, while it would be great to believe we have become a powerhouse team overnight, reality is we are still a work in progress showing some impressive glimpses of what we’re capable of but still subject to lapses that were all to common in previous years. It will take time and they’re will be some bumps in the road but for the first time in ages we seem to be unified as a club and what we’re aiming for.
Isn’t it amazing how it’s plainly obvious to most supporters but not the inner sanctum.
Some may say that’s because we’re less informed or don’t understand what the coaching panel is instructing the players to do (and there is truth to that), but I also think the players personality, charisma, friendships have an impact.
On that basis, Plowman’s personality must be off the charts!!
Carlton fans when we kick 6 goals 18 behinds- forget this rubbish about "if only we'd kicked straight" we were outplayed and crap kicking was a result of the pressure we put ourselves under
Carlton fans when we win but the opponent kicked 13 goals 12 behinds- If they'd kicked straight we would have lost that. We were lucky to win that.
Yep, always easy to slap it down instead of calling it what it was…a good win against quality opposition
If McGovern keeps on this trajectory it's a win for us, sure he's smaller and maybe cannot stand gorilla types, but his ball use looks to be be a tad more consistent at picking and hitting targets than Jones!
And I haven't noticed or missed any of those the infamous chaos spoils yet!
His kicking on both sides of his body was a real highlight for me.
Apparently the French were contracted to re-engineer nuclear submarines to be diesel powered. Never done before so surprise surprise, problems and delays.
You could also question why they took the contract, dumb in both parts.
In the post match presser, Teague chided one of the reporters called Tom (Browne or Morris ?) for suggesting that he had lost support of the senior players. Teague said that simply isn't true, and it cut him a little deeply.
